2 babies born in my family recently: Brantley Joshua, Lucas Chase

other babies born recently: Bentley Earl, Brynleigh Faith (i think that's how she spelled it)

me && the husband have talked about soo many names lol.
we're pretty sure Katelyn Elisabeth is wat we want to name our 1st daughter. our 1st son will either be Robert Wilton or John Duncan/Donovan/Darius (still not sure lol) possibly John D(whatever we decide) Wilton. or even J.D. Wilton (the initials wold be in honor of his grandfather anyway, && his didn't stand for anything) 

other boy names we've talked about are Christopher, Robert James. i like Christopher James.. i also mentioned Shawn && my husband likes Andrew for boys.
for girls, we've mentioned Frances Isabel as another possibility. i like Zatanna (yep from batman lol) but my husband doesn't eventho he's a huge comic book geek! Jessy Harlee was another name we threw around. annnd i like Jaymes for a girl, maybe even Graceyn Jaymes, we could always nn her Gracie. i kinda like the name Reyna too..

i still kinda want to name a girl something that can be shortened to Ally (Alecia, Alexandra, Alexis, Alexa)

I like your boy names, and J.D. would look really nice for initials. Love Frances Isabel and Alexandra! Not a fan of Harlee, Jaymes and Graceyn, as they seem very trendy and are not as classy as Christopher or Alexandra.

I've seen Ally pronounced as al-ee. And Aly, Ali, Allie, Alli, etc...

Also, by that logic, the word allies would be pronounced al-eez instead of al-eyes... English has pronunciation issues. :) My point is that I don't think a girl named Ally would have much trouble with people mispronouncing her name.

Someone I know is due any day now and naming her son Brantley too. I think it might just be his middle name though, not sure. I've never heard it before she announced the name so I thought it was interesting to see another one so soon lol.

well the couple that named their son Brantley was actually considering Bentley but then the couple who named their son Bentley stole it lol. idk they're cousins, it was a huge contreversy!! i assume bc of Brantley Gilbert who is a new country singer on the rise is y ppl are all of the sudden in love with the name, i also assume Bentley is bc of Maci from Teen Mom. ::shrug::

Brantley Joshua = what's with Brantley? It's like Bradley and Bentley mushed together. Joshua is okay.
Lucas Chase = I like it enough... nn Luke is awesome.
Katelyn Elisabeth = meh, I don't like the way Katelyn looks and Elisabeth with an 's' makes me sad.
Robert Wilton = not my cup of tea but it's alright.
John Duncan = ick on the Duncan.
John Donovan = meh...
John Darius = this combo I actually like.
J.D as initials = totally cute.
Christopher = this name is so gorgeous =) and I really like the combo of Christopher James.
Robert James = not a fan of Robert myself.
Shawn = ick.
Andrew = gorgeous name.
Frances Isabel = Frances is also a name I don't really like. Isabel is gorgeous though.
Zatanna = don't do this to your child, please. (This is coming from a comic book geek...)
Jessy Harlee = cute in theory but eh... nick names as first names bugs me... Remember she might not always be a cute little girl. Also... Harley.
Jaymes = No, just no... adding random Y's to names do not make them gender benders.
Graceyn = I'm not even sure how you'd pronounce this. Also, completely unnecessary Y.
Reyna = the problem for ME with this name is that it is the literal translation for Queen in Spanish: Reina. It's always seemed a bit pretentious to me. Like naming your kid Princess.
Alecia = annoys me because it should be Alicia.
Alexandra = is fine.
Alexis = er... pushing it.
Alexa = see above.
Ally as a nn is cute but in my experience kids end up picking their nick names later on.

Lucas is a name i love. my husband refuses to use it but if i ever get the chance to use it on a pet, i'm totally goin for it lol. obviously i'd nn it Luke!

i may not use "Katelyn" it's just the one i typed. i actually prefer "Kaitelynne" or "Kaitlen" myself (and i'm only using K instead of C or the spelling Caitlin bc my middle name is Katherine, personal preference) && idk i just like the way "Elisabeth" looks i'm not opposed to "Elizabeth" it's just that i kno too many who spell it that way, idk.

my husband really likes John Darius best. it's growin on me bc i liked John Derek but my husband didnt lol.

No, Uh-leese--EE-uh is the Spanish way to pronounce it. It's still spelled Alicia.

Why would you WANT your child to have to correct EVERYONE whenever they have to say their name? Or when filling out forms. From the way you type you seem like a young person so I hope by the time you have kids these horrible names will have faded out and you think closely before sticking your child with a name they'll 'grow into'. I wanted to name a child of mine Leelou so, there is hope for you.

Then stick with Katelyn, it's your child not mine but if you come asking for opinions you also have to realize not all of them will be positive ones.

Well if you and your husband ASKED for an opinion of me in person I'd give you MY opinion as I have now... If you want to get angry I disagree with your naming choices that is fine and if you want to get passionate about it it's fine too. Either way I won't change my mind in thinking it's just not a smart thing to do to name your kid those names.

Also, it's spelled rude, that's not even short hand. But since you ask, no, not rude. In no way was I rude about my opinion, instead I pointed out the flaws I believe to find in yours and also gave you the reasons why I believe it. Having an opinion and expressing it when it's asked does NOT make a person rude. If I went on your blog unsolicited and started telling you 'you're stupid for wanting to name a child that' it would be considered rude but that is not the situation here.

And I have no idea what jsyk means... As you can see I tend not to abbreviate my words. But don't worry, I have no desire to figure it out either.

I'm very sorry to say this, but these look like a lot of made-up names that I see/hear at work. Your child deserves a properly spelled name with a good, solid meaning. I love the nickname Gracie (my dad calls me that), but please use it for Grace. Graceyn/Gracyn is a trendy knockoff of a great name.

Christopher James is great, and Frances and Isabel go well together, but Isabel Frances might work better so the "iz" sounds don't slur together.

these were just names tossed around. bc i'm wierd like that lol. and Graceyn should be Graycen, sorry it was a typo! tbh i want to give my children meaningful names. that is why Katelyn Elisabeth is our #1 girl pick: Katelyn to carry on the tradition in my family to name a girl Katherine (but i want something a lil different to give her her own identity; both mean "pure" && Elisabeth to honor my husband's grandmother who's name was Betty) && Robert Wilton or John D(whatever we choose) Wilton (Robert after my husband, the initials J.D. after his grandfather, && Wilton after my daddy)

I like the names Joshua, Elisabeth, Robert, John, Donovan, James, and Frances.

Brantley, Bentley, and Brynleigh all make me want to gag.

I really don't like any of the Katelyn variants, but that's not the worst spelling I've seen.

I don't care for Wilton, but I understand that it is a family name, and Robert Wilton does sound good.

Out of Duncan, Donovan, and Darius, I like Donovan the best, but if it is used with John, you've got a bit of a rhyme going on that I'm not sure if I like--JOHN DONovan. Duncan is the next best and it sounds fine with John, but if you add the Wilton, then, you wind up with two names in a row ending in the the same -an/-on sound. At least, when I say it, the endings end up sounding the same. Duncan sounds more like dun-kin and when I say Wilton, it ends up sounding more like will-tin. So that doesn't sound as pleasing to my ears. I don't like Darius at all, but if you wind up with John D--- Wilton, John Darius Wilton sounds the best. J. D. Wilton sounds like an authors name, and that's cool, but I don't think I would personally like having initials as my given name. I would prefer to have two proper names and then initials as a nickname.

Christopher is a name I want to like, but I don't like it for personal reasons.

Robert James is nice, if a little bland. Christopher James sounds nice. I don't like the Shawn spelling at all. I much prefer Sean. Andrew is classic.

Frances Isabel (or Isabel Frances, which I saw someone else mention and would make sense if you intended to call her Isabel) is a nice name. They're classic. I do think Isabel Frances flows better. Either way, if your last name is the name on your icon/in your username, it does, unfortunately, become a little 's' heavy.

Was Zatanna the one you said you were joking about? It sounds too much like satan or satanic to me. Not to mention, it's not even a real name. I really don't like names that get too...creative.

Jessy doesn't look right to me. Jessie looks much better. Harlee should be spelled Harley, but it's a very masculine name. I don't like it either way. Jessy Harlee/Jessie Harley has the problem of both ending in the -ee sound. I also don't like nicknames as given names. These two problems would be solved by using Jessica Harley instead. I still don't like Harlee/Harley, but it IS just the middle name, and I feel it is much improved by using Jessica as the full name. It also would give your daughter something more professional to go by in her professional life if she so chose. If she's just named Jessy/Jessie, she doesn't really have any options besides Jess.

James is a male name. It should be used on males. I don't like the added 'y'; it serves no purpose except to make a male name look more feminine, but it will still sound like a boys' name. Graycen is just a corruption of Grayson, which is a trendy name to begin with. It becomes even trendier by spelling it weird. It does not look attractive at all, and again, it is a boy's name. If I saw the name Graycen Jaymes, I would assume it was a boy whose parents got creative with spelling. Creative spellings don't change how a name sounds yelled across the playground though. If you like the nickname Gracie, name her Grace.

I don't care for Reyna. Raina isn't too bad though.

I don't like any of the Alex-- names, but that's just personal preference. Alecia is another misspelled name. Alicia would be better. You could also try Allison or Alice, if you want the nickname Ally.
