I'm pretty much in love with the name November, with nn options being Nova or Ember (I might just use Ember as a name on its own). I'm torn, though, because if she was born in November it would seem like lazy naming and if she wasn't it would be a bit odd, right? I know that there are plenty of Aprils, Mays, and Junes who are and aren't born in those months, but those feel more like established names in their own rights. I also like Tuesday, but have the same issues.

WDYT?

I don't think it matters when she is born -- either way, a name like November WILL be a conversation piece for her whole life (for better or worse; not meant as judgment).

I don't like Nova or Ember, though. Nova makes me think salmon and Chevys, and Ember ... to me is like Amber, but spelled weird.

My aunt is named June and she is born in June. She always comments on how uncreative my grandmother was.

I think it would be a little corny to name a child in the month they were born, honestly. However, I don't think it would be the worst name crime!

I love the nn Nova (I think celestial). Ember seems masculine to me. So I suppose you could use Nova as a nn for a girl and Ember if it were a boy?

I'm not in love with the use of November at all. But I do know an August who was born in February, so if you use November I don't see why you couldn't use it at any time (even in November). Nova reminds me of "where the heart is" and Ember is alright.

I was going to suggest looking at January Jones as an example of "nontraditional month names that work," she was actually born in January.

Personally, I think the name November for a November baby is cute.

I also love the names Ember and Nova.

I'm with you - I like the name November, but it seems like a lose/lose in terms of naming a kid that. It's either corny or weird. (I guess pick the lesser of two evils or else use it as a middle name?) I also really like the name Saturday (but that could just be my unhealthy obsession with all words/names beginning with "Sat" 9_9)

So, unfortunately, I'm sort of in the same boat as you...

I like Ember a lot, actually. I think it's mysterious and feminine :)

I think the fact that you chose the name before you knew the month your daughter was born in takes away the "lazy naming" factor if she happens to be born in November. I think it's a unique and beautiful name, although I may be biased because it's my favorite month of the year, haha.

November is one of my favorite names! I'm planning to use it as a middle name for Sarah. However, I wouldn't use the name if she were born in November. To me, that seems uncreative and lazy, even though I would know that I wanted to use the name regardless of when she was born. I feel the same way about August-- I would use it for a baby born any time except in August.

Nova and Ember are both cute nicknames. They both sound feminine to me, and personally I prefer Ember.

I quite like the names January, April and May for a girl, but May would probably be used more for a middle name. Not keen on November. As for days, not a fan. Especially Tuesday which is getting quite popular. Eww. Not a fan at all.

I like the seasons as names. Summer and Winter are nice (but I prefer the other spelling, Wynter). But Winter/Wynter is a no go anyway, since my future children will have a surname beginning with a T. Too many T’s. Autumn is okay but Spring seems a bit odd.

Not the OP but since you said you like season names, question for you!

Autumn has ways been one of my favorite girls names (we find out what we're having on the 25th) but I'm due in late December. I have the same issue as the OP basically: is it weird to name a baby born in the middle of winter "Autumn"? Then I thought, wouldn't it be kind of corny to name a baby born in the fall Autumn?

Just curious on your thoughts; it's not often that I see someone else who likes season names :)

I don't think it's odd at all. Plenty of parents are naming their daughters Summer these days and not all of 'em are going to be born in summer. My 2nd cousin is called Summer and WAS born in summer, but a friend of mine also called her daughter Summer and had her in early spring. I don't think it's corny that my 2nd cousin was named after the season she was born in, and I don't think it's odd that my friend chose to call her daughter Summer even though she's a spring baby. I think Autumn will be a good name for your daughter :)

Funny enough of the people with "month" names I've never really considered what month they were born.
That being said not every month works as a name and November is one of them for me. I actually really like the name Ember (it's sweet and warm) as a standalone, but Nova sounds like a cat name, tbh.

I think if it has meaning to you - like maybe your favorite day is Tuesday or month November, or someone you idolized or wanted to honor is connected to the day or month, it works. I like the more "namey" nicknames, too.

I adore the names November and Tuesday. I doubt I would actually use them if my child was born in November or on a Tuesday, though. I think if they aren't born then, it seems more like a name. If they are, it just seems like that's what you're naming them after.
