So, this is kind of random but I thought I would get opinions (so I can tell my SO whether or not he's crazy).

Whenever we talk about our future children(s) and name possibilities he is always very insistent that the first and middle name both be 7 letters long (our last name is 7 letters long). He insists that the 777 is awesome (I wouldn't know as mine are 787 respectively).

This whole 777 thing makes it really hard to find names! His flows very nicely: Patrick Stephen. But I've only been able to think of 2 girl names that I like: Delaney and Johanna. As for boys I'm stuck (mostly because I really love Parker which is unacceptable to him because it is only 6 letters).

So, is my man crazy? And if he is or isn't...what are your favorite 7 letter first and middle name combinations?

I think your man is either a little obsessed or joking with you. Or he's trying to subtly control you. Then again, I'm no relationship's expert.

In any case, try not to let something this small drive you apart.

If I happened to find first and middle names that flowed together AND were 7 letters each, bonus. But I wouldn't specifically hunt out 7 letters names for the purpose of some weird 7-7-7 thing. No one pays attention to name length.

I have always wanted to name my daughter Abigail Johanna - that works!

But yeah, the 777 thing is slightly weird!

I think it's a bit weird to insist on it. If you're able to come up with something you love, then great! But if not, I wouldn't struggle to find something that works. I don't think I would just settle for a name that I didn't really love.

That said, here are the ones on my list that are seven letters long:

Donovan
Ephraim
Phineas
Quentin
Tiernan
William

Juniper
Lavinia
Tabitha

Donovan Ephraim, Phineas Quentin, William Phineas, Tabitha Juniper, and Juniper Lavinia are my favorite combos. Or throwing Johanna and Delaney into the mix: Juniper Delaney or Johanna Lavinia.

Also, Delaney is technically unisex, I believe, so you could do something like Delaney Donovan, Ephraim Delaney, Tiernan Delaney, or William Delaney.

Also, also, a quick search led me to a list here: babynames1000 dot com /seven-letter/

(Had to write out the address as it was marked as spam the first time.)

I believe there is an actor named William Delaney. He used to be on that old night time soap Knots Landing, I am not 100% sure if that is his name but I think it is.
I love Tiernan or Kiernan

I think it's a pretty funny quirk! I mean, the whole 777 thing is pretty rad :D

However, I think that if you find a name that he absolutely loves and isn't 7 letters long, maybe you can convince him, otherwise!

OR if you find a name you really love and it's too short, maybe you can slightly alter the spelling to fill in the gaps until you have 7 letters. I know a lot of people in this community don't like the more "creative" spellings to names, but maybe if you do it just right it might be kind of cool!

...although i really can't think of anything to make "Parker" a letter longer that wouldn't look ridiculous :-/

Oh, and I think Delaney is SUPER cute!

I have very few seven letter names to offer up, I think. As for combinations... I'm at a total loss here. Your man isn't crazy, he's just awfully specific in his tastes.

Growing up (In Connecticut where the license plates had 6 characters) I used to imagine only naming kids with 6 letter names so they could get custom plates if they wanted. (My brother and I also happened to both have 6 letter names) In New York now, I could extend that up to 7 - haha.

Yea, so I don't think your SO is too crazy. I also used to count the letters in my name and my friends names. I'm 6 - 5 - 9
My SO is 4 - 5 - 6 which I think is pretty cool.

Anyway, yea - he's not the only one with this quirk.

By some accidental quirk - at least I don't think it's intentional - all the members of my immediate family have first names that have 7 letters (Charles, Monique, Melissa, Matthew, Caitlin). My mother just picked names that she really liked, though; they definitely didn't mean to do it. I think we noticed it when we were young and all developed the same cadence for spelling our names out to people, and realized that the cadence was so similar because the number of letters was the same.

I do think that your husband is a little crazy, lol.

Don't really have any names to offer, but you made me realize that my daughter and I are both 7-4-7, and my husband is 4-7-7, accidentally, of course.
