We’re thinking of adopting a 1 year old Persian cat whose name is Chantilly. She is off white, with orange tipped ears. What do you think of her name? Would you change it? I kind of like the name, but it’s a little bit of a mouthful. I suppose we could shorten it to Tilly, but I’m not a huge fan of that. WDYT?

I think it's cute (would not pick it myself).... she's white and it's a kind of lace which is kind of sweet. I'd call her Tilly. I'm sure you'll come up with other nicknames in no time.

When renaming animals, I kinda just wait for something to come to me. And I'm not always comfortable renaming.

I renamed my (adopted at 1.5 years old) cat from "Darla" to "Harlow" and she took it well. Tilly is cute and I also like Chanty.

1 years old isn't too late to rename a cat. We changed ours from "Mama" to "Jackson" at age 4 and she learned it in about a month.

However, if you did want to keep the name - how about the nickname Chan (prn. Shan)? I know the sweetest kitty named Shan.

I think it's adorable. I'd leave it as is! You can call her a lot of things for short: Chan, Tilly, Till.

Oh, I love Chantilly. You could call her Chan or Channy.
