My family tree has some pretty interesting names. My mother's family (on her mothers side) came to Canada from England & France. They then married into Indian Tribes, which I'll post later.

This is very interesting. I'm French Canadian with French ancestors and a lot of those names can be found in my family tree as well. My dad is Joseph Henry...I've never heard of Calixte before. It's so very close to that French swear word, you know?

And can I just say...Giving birth to 18/25 kids!!!OMG! I've got two and that's a handful, lol! Those poor women.

I really hope the 25 kids didnt come from just one wife haha, that makes me cringe thinking that they might have been. ick. lol

I've also never heard Calixte, and i have no idea what word your refering to as the french in my family stopped at my grandmother who was raised english, none of us speak it but still have our french last name.

The word "calice" which is related to Christianity. It really sounds the same when said out loud.

Somebody in my hometown had 21 kids. It definitely happened back in the days. I can't imagine!

The word "calice". It's definitely a French Canadian/Quebec swear word, pronounced "calisse". Which I'll admit to saying a lot, oops.

Really interesting group of names. I have French Canadian + first nations marriages in my family history too, but I've never seen Calixte, Ausonie, Vitaline, Zepherine and Telesphore before. Thanks for sharing!

I've never seen any of those names before either, which makes them more interesting. I'm afraid the part of the tree which involves marriage to first nations women are not at all interesting because of residential school nuns changing their original names to catholic names.
