[identity profile] scottish-diva.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
My first is called Kade David Walker (last name is Nicholson) he has so many names because of sentimental purposes; in the beginning i only wanted him to have first - middle - last but he ended up with first - middle middle - last and with my next baby (s) i don't want to break the pattern although i'm finding it REALLY akward to come up with names that go..

we finally decided on :

Kennedy Soren Aurora (GIRL) and Beck Hunter Hayden (BOY) what do you think? please keep in mind the last name is Nicholson and if anyone has any better suggestions please let me know :)

Kennedy needs to be the girls first name
I love the names Soren and Aurora
Hunter has sentimental value
I like Beck..

so.. go to it LOL.

I love both of them, I can't say i actually like the first names though, Kennedy on a girl really annoys me. Beck is... a bit short & reminds me of beckham.
But the names a quirky & flow well, i like hte alliteration 'hunter hayden'- (though i think i prefer hayden hunter)doubt many other people on here will though!

i agree with the commenter before me, i don't like beck as the first name(well at all really, lol), but i think Hayden Hunter sounds better. although i can't think of another name to go with them, cause those two,to me sound great together without needing another name.

i prefer Aurora Kennedy. not a big fan of soren especially on a girl, cause it means god of war,so to me it seems to masculine.

Soren is a boys name.

for sure! and not one of those boys names that is okay on a girl. i hear "kennedy Soren" and i think "that is without a DOUBT a male name."

Hunter Hayden Beck sounds better I think. Beck seems too short to be the FN for some reason.

I also think Soren is very masculine, but since it's in the middle and there are 2 other names she could go by, I guess it's not a big deal.

I do love Kennedy for a girl :)

I think Kennedy Nicholson goes well together. I love Aurora but not w/Soren bc of the repetitive 'or' sounds. the only 'trap' here is that you will have two kids w/ K names (and if it were me, I'd feel compelled to give any future kids K names too. but if you're only planning on having two or this possibility doesn't bother you then it's whatever. :D)

I agree w/some of the PPs that Hayden Hunter sounds better. THere is just something about Beck that I don't like w/ your ln. I thought it was the one syllable-ness, but then Kade sounds ok to me. I think maybe a different fn, maybe a two syllable one would be better. If I come up w/any suggestions I'll let you know.

Soren and Aurora don't go together. They are really awkward to say.
And as another commenter pointed out, Soren is a boys name. But if you really like it it doesn't seem TOO masculine to me as a middle name.
If I could rearrange the names I would do it like so:
Aurora Kennedy Soren
Hayden Hunter Beck

if you're not sold on an extra middle name, i don't think you're required to give it just because your other child has it. i think the child would appreciate much more an nice name that both parents like, as opposed to trying to make his.her name like an older siblings, that maybe doesn't flow as well. if my older sister had an extra name, i don't think i'd think it was preferential treatment. it would just be the way things were.

I like Beck a lot, mostly because I really like the singer.

Kennedy - sorry, I find it very unattractive. :(
Soren - extremely masculine, doesn't work with Aurora at all, which is hard enough to say on its own.
Aurora - Ok, but I always feel like I'm swallowing my tongue to say it. It just doesn't feel like in my mouth.
Hunter - eh. nmsaa.
Hayden - down with -ayden names.

I don't see any reason to force two mns if you don't have a reason to do it like you did with your first.

Can someone explain the appeal of Kennedy on a girl? Or even a boy? I don't see it. It's a surname, and there's said to be a 'curse' amongst it's more famous bearers, Ken is a male nickname, I think of Ted Kennedy who's character is questionable, and his looks ain't great either.. not something *I* want a girl associated with.
Seriously.. what makes this name attractive? I can't figure it out for the life of me.
And I wouldn't use 3 names again unless it had sentimental value, like the first.. otherwise it's just tacky, IMO.

Sometimes if a name has a particularly attractive meaning, I can be won over. Unfortunately the meaning of Kennedy, "ugly head," pretty much ensures that this will never happen.

hehe.
I had to a project in gr.6 where we looked up the meanings of our names and then made a collage about it... I thought mine was bad (Trista = "melancholy")... I sure hope all the lil' Kennedy's out there won't have to do a similar project :S

I think "Kennedy" is the ugliest possible name ever... I'm sorry. But, since you want it to be the fist name, i'll bite my tongue. I like the idea of 2 middle names, if it's to be meaningful, not to fit a pattern.

Hunter Iain Beck (sorry, did some snooping and found that was your hubby's name)

Kenndey Aurora Mae (I love the flow of it)

Beck Nicholson sounds like a soap opera name.

The rest of it's OK, but you have to remember, middle names are rarely even used, except with the kid's in trouble. Most of the time, you'll just say the first & last names, so when you take out the pretty middle names, it still has to work.

My last thought has to do with 2 middle names: you already have a tongue twister giving your first one hell, 2 middles on the second will just mean more of the same. I know that sounds petty, but when my best friend & I had to call our kids by the dreaded 3 (or, in her case 4) name combination, (meaning "OMGYOUSTOPTHATRIGHTNOWORISTRINGYOUUPWTF!!!") "Dylan Anthony!" flowed gracefully out of my mouth, while she mush-mouthed through "Morgan Brittany Shelby!"

Yup, babbled... aaahhh, lazy Sunday!

I don't mean to be nosey, but can I ask why Kennedy HAS to be the first name?

I wouldn't use Kennedy as a first name personally, but I think it sounds fine, I don't have anything against it. I just wanted to say that I have two middle names, and my younger two siblings only have one, and I've never noticed it as weird before, I don't think it has to be a pattern.

Like other posters before me, I'd reorder the girl's name to be Aurora Kennedy Soren. Aurora is by far the nicest name in the grouping, and is the only feminine name in the bunch, which will be helpful not only to her, but to everyone else who might think that Kennedy Soren Aurora is a boy with a girl's middle name.

Beck is okay, but a bit dated. Better than Hayden as a first name, though. Hunter seems a bit violent, but I guess it's all right in the middle spot.
