[identity profile] velkoria.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Well not new but I've added a few names to my list and I wanted to know what you guys thought of it! I know many of these names are a bit 'weird' but I speak mostly latin based languages (primarily french and spanish) so that's why some may be spelled a bit differently and stuff. Also, there is an abundance of Italian names on the list because I am mostly of Italian heritage.

Aurora
Arwen - yeah yeah I'm a big geek so sue me... probably will never use it but it's on here.
Cecilia - this could easily be on my top 5 right now.
Celestina
Clara
Elena - this name I will be using no matter what. In my family the naming tradition is on the women's side and my first daughter will 100% be named <first name> Elena.
Eliana
Eowyn - see Arwen.
Esther
Evelina
Ginevra - no, not because of Harry Potter but it's still a sweet reference =)
Lidia
Lucia
Luna - Front contender for a while now but this would have my child named Luna Elena which sounds gorgeous in Spanish but English is my second most used language.
Lucrezia
Romana
Valeria - meh, not a name that drives me wild.

Eve is a name I L.O.V.E. to infinity and beyond but ONLY in English and that makes me a sad panda.

wdyt guys? got any names to suggest? any names you hate? lemme have it peeps!

BTW - I looove suggestions because this list is pretty short and I'd like a more complete one just one thing: I dislike names that mean anything to do with 'God'. I don't mind names from the bible but names that mean 'god's grace' or anything similar I cannot swallow.

Arwen, Eowyn and Esther are the only ones that I really like.

Honestly, I do hate Aurora. It's my least favourite name.

The rest are names that are nice and pretty, but that I wouldn't personally use. Not 'weird' as you said, just not my style, lol.

I love Arwen and Cecilia- our daughter's name is going ot be a variant on Cecilia. :)

And who cares how geeky it is? if you LOVE Arwen, name your kid that. I named my son after a character in a Stephen King novel. (The Gunslinger series. Roland. :) )

My grandmother cannot pronounce my cousin's kid's name. Aayla from Star Wars. :)

Luna is my daughter's name so I love it, Clara is next on my list of names I'd use. I also really like and would use Aurora. I love all the names on your list but wouldn't personally use the others.

Elena is a family name that I also will be using as a middle name. Arwen and Eowyn are names that I seriously love and have been back and forth on whether I would actually use them or not

As Melissa Elena (Elena was my grandmother's name), I approve of you and the original poster!

I really like Eowyn but have a similar dilemma to the one mentioned in the comments - my second most used language is French and it is SUPER tricky to make Eowyn work. One solution for this could be for the Spanish speaking relatives to use the middle name instead... that's the only way around it I've actually been willing to consider.

Luna Elena is stunning in Spanish! I think it's fine in English as well, it's not as stunning, I grant you, but it's still pretty and flows okay.

I looooove Arwen and Eowyn!!

I like Lydia much more than Lidia.

Valeria has always sounded like a STD to me :( it sounds pretty in Spanish, but even the way it reads just looks like its a disease. I like Valerie as an alternative.

Instead of Eve, what about Yve (French version as in Yvette/Yvonne)? I worked with an Yve and I loved her name so much.
