Month names.

Overall, what are your opinions on month names?

I ask because lately I've seen a lot more of them popping up on my friend's list, usually as names of their nieces/nephews.

However, I came across Auktobher (~21 y/o) & Decembre (~19 y/o) just a few days ago. I wonder if Decembre's parents are perhaps Canadian or French or from somewhere else that speaks French.  Auktobher I really have no words.

I don't have a problem with April, May, June and August. May would be likely be spelled Mae if used it. August I love!

I'd be totally fine with them if they're SPELLED RIGHT.

Creative spellings make me a bit crazy. Your kids name should not look like an LOLCAT meme.

(I'm one to talk, i've picked the yiddish version of Cecilia for my baby girl due in August, but its still a standard spelling for an unusual name)

i'm not a fan of month names. i feel like they're not representative of a person, if that makes sense, like the parents couldn't think of anything else.

This is how I feel. Not a fan if they're named for the month they were born in, because it seems very boring and uncreative. I personally love August and November, though I like November as a middle name. Sarah November is actually at the top of my list for a girl.

I love June, but that really has nothing to do with it being a month name. May works better as Mae, and August I'm ok with.

I really like May (though I would probably spell it Mae), June, and August. April is too 80s for me - I knew a lot of Aprils growing up. I wish I liked October better as a name since it's my favorite month, but I just don't know.

I'm a fan of June, and I also like August. My family's burial plot is beside an old married couple's shared headstone who just happened to have the names Augustus & Augustine, and I'd always thought that was the sweetest thing.

The only month name I really like is May. I think May is underused. Always as a middle name. People go for the fancy "Maya" as a first name, but never May.

I can tolerate April or Avril, but I don't like the rest.

I agree, I love the name May and I'm actually surprised it's not more popular, given that old-fashioned names are 'in'.

January and October are my favourites, but if I ever used them it would be as a middle name--and only if they weren't born in either month. Not much of a fan of the usual April, May, June, August, although I do like Mae.

I like April, May, and June for girls. I could see someone naming their child Jan (Janson or Jana/Janice) or Jule (Julius or Julie/Juliet) for January or July. For the fall months, I personally would not name the child after the month. Perhaps Autumn, after the season, for a girl. I also like Noel/Noelle for December.

I really like August and April, I like June as a middle name, and I'm "meh" on May. I like January Jones' name, but I have a feeling that the longer month names only work with short, common names like Smith or Jones.

I have no problem with the more common ones (April, May/Mae, June, August).

The other ones I've never heard as an actual name for anyone, before. So it's not that I don't like them, it's just hard to think of them as a person and not a month.

I will say though, that month names have great potential for lots of cute nicknames!

And Mae has always been a favorite of mine.

I have a friend named September who named her daughter October (nn Tobi). They were both named after their birth months. I think it's cute.

I love the name November, nn Nova or Ember. My issue, though, is that it's weird to name a child after a month if they're not born in that month, but lazy if they are! April, May, and June have become names in their own right, though.

I love August and would potentially name a son this. November is a bit of a guilty pleasure name. Don't think I could actually use it as a first name for a girl, but maybe a middle. I don't think any of the others are really my style.
