[identity profile] jadedinnocent.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames

A colleague has just had. her baby, Fletcher Daniel joins big brother Heath (not sure of Heath's mn)

Mum is English, dad is Canadian, and before she went on maternity she told me they were disagreeing over names - she liked 'traditional' english names, he liked North American names, and refused any 'royal' names.

I feel like Fletcher Daniel is a lot of L's, especially since their last name is two syllable french-canadian & has two L sounds as well....

WDYT?

I first saw it wrong and read the name as Fletcher Danielle and cringed a little at the thought of calling a girl Fletcher, then suddenly thought "well, I've heard of worse". ;p THEN realized it wasn't Danielle, but Daniel. Now I think Fletcher Danielle actually sounded better. ;p

But, yeah. I've still heard of worse. I get what you're saying about "too many L's" though. Makes it a little awkward.

I really like Fletcher, but I'm not a big fan of Daniel. I don't know why that is, I've never liked it. Together it's okay but ditto on the L's. On the other hand, I can think of about ten names I've heard for boys off the top of my head, that I would definitely not choose over this. At least it's usable and makes sense, and people will know how to spell it.

I like Fletcher, don't love the combo with Daniel but it's ok.

I like it. The L's don't bother me for some reason. Maybe it's because I don't know the last name, and because the L's are in two different places. If the name were, say, Gabriel Daniel, then, yeah, I'd say the L's were too much because they'd both be at the end.

Also not getting the Daniel hate, but maybe that's because it's my dad's name.

Totally odd, but to me, Heath and Fletcher together sounds like Heath Ledger.

Fletcher feels too "last name as a first name"-y for me (though I may be biased since it's my last name)
