We are currently TTC and I'm starting to think of names! We have one daughter, Esther Margaret, and I'd really like to find a name that is along the same lines.
We think we are set on the name Theodore Patrick for a boy, but I'm at a loss for another girl's name. There are a few that I like such as Agnes, Daphne and Edith, but my husband can't be sold on any of them. He really likes Lydia, which I can't really see myself agreeing to.
I'm kind of overthinking I think, because I feel that all of these 'old fashion' names are now coming back and I'm afraid of choosing something that is going to get uber popular.
So, friends, can you suggest any not so popular boy or girl names that are on the same line as Esther?
Thanks!

Date: 2012-06-04 04:15 am (UTC)Penelope has jumped considerable, from not even being in the top 1000 to right now around 169
Edna hasn't been in the top 1000 in over 20 years
Mary is going slowly down, falling out of the top 100 in '09 for the first time in over 90 years.
Frances is getting less and less popular, been sitting around 800 for a few years.
Hazel took a pretty big jump, too, from not being in the top 100 to 211 over the past 15 years
Olive jumped form off the chart to 416 over the past 6 years
Iris has been pretty steady, in the 200-500 range, for the past 90 years, around 300 now.
not that you asked ;)

Date: 2012-06-04 03:45 am (UTC)oh, I didn't see you asked for by names also.. my sons are Linus and Dietrich. I think the 5 names go well together :)
if you're concerned about the popularity of a name, you can look on the social security site. not only how popular a name is, but what the trend is (for example, one namr may have jumped from #900 to #500 in a couple years, then you can expect that to end up more popular in the coming years, as opposed to one that has been sitting around #400 for the past 50 years.)
