My husband and I just found out we're expecting, and we've had a couple of names on our tentative list for a while now.

We really like Atticus for a boy, and Carina for a girl. I'm looking for ideas for middle names that would work (the last name would be two syllables beginning with B if it helps).

I had posted a while ago about toying with using my father's first name as a middle name, but Atticus Edward doesn't quite fit. Similarly, our mother's names are Wendy and Linda, and neither sound super with Carina.

So, can you suggest a middle name? To narrow it down, we are not interested in any biblical names, though other traditional names are welcome. Thanks so much!

Try finding a name site where you can look names up by meaning, and see what's means the same as Linda and Wendy.

Jewish naming tradition often honors a relative by using a name that starts with the same first letter. I like Atticus Elliott and Carina Wren. :)

If it's important to you to include your parents' names but you don't like the way it flows, you could always use two middle names and make the parent name the second one. I know some people don't like that, but as long as the first middle name flows well, it's really not that big of a deal or name overload as some people think.

I have two middle names (not officially on my birth certificate, but it's what I always went by) and it never bothered me or sounded strange. If anything, it was something unique about me that I could tell people...not too many people have more than one middle name.

As far as alternatives/combos, I like:
Atticus Ryan (Edward)
Atticus Jeremy (Edward)
Atticus Cole (Edward)
Atticus Michael (Edward)

Because Atticus is such a unique name, having a more common name for a middle name is a nice balance, especially if you like the two middle name idea.

Also, Carina Wendy doesn't sound that bad, to be honest. I actually think its pretty cute :) if you like the two mn idea, i feel like Wendy sounds far better as a second mn than Linda. Just some ideas:

Carina Louise (Wendy)
Carina Danielle (Wendy)
Carina Justine (Wendy)

Thanks very much for the ideas! Atticus Michael Edward would be good, actually, because my brother's middle name is Michael! Though we did want to avoid biblical names, we could totally work that one!

Atticus is one of my favourite boy names! I always have two boy and two girl name sets just in my head for future children and right now Atticus Finnley Reason is one of them.

Do you like Atticus Edward? I wasn't sure, and when I posted about it before it got mixed reviews. I rather like it, but wasn't sure if I was biased since I *want* it to work!

And we both love Carina, though we didn't know until recently that it's an actual name! D'oh... we were desperately trying to come up with pretty female names and thought of the constellation; only after searching it online did we discover it's actually a name that's in use!
