[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/-----citylight/ posting in [community profile] babynames
Hello. I have just found out I'm pregnant with my second baby! I'm 14 weeks along, so we still have a bit of time to come up with names, but since you guys were so helpful when I was trying to find a name for my daughter, (Veda Blossom), I thought I would come back here to come up with some idea's for our new addition to the family too =]

So here is the longer version of my lists so far; (btw, for anything that sounds like a nickname, on paper I would definately be using the longer, more formal version)

For Boys - Gus, Abe, Theo, Hugo, Monty, Otto, Arthur, Arlo, Patrick, Amos, Nico
For Girls - Alma, Elsa, Olive, Juniper, Zinnia, Nova, Ramona, Ivy

(While I like a lot of the girls names, not many of them really go well with Veda as they end in the "a" sound. I'm looking for some similar high-energy, fun, quirky and less common girls names that end differently. Any suggestions?)

Thanks and let me know what you think?

I like Gus (as a nn for August), Theo (as a nn for Theodore), and Hugo. Arlo and Amos aren't on my list but I am kind of intrigued by them. I think Arlo goes best with Veda.

I like Juniper, Ramona, and Nova. I'm kind of leaning toward Nova going best with Veda despite it ending in the same sound. Ivy goes well too.

Wren is my top choice as far as suggestions.

Other ideas:
Luna (still ends with the -a, I know)
Penelope
Willow
Maeve
Frances

I like Nova a lot! Maybe use it as a nn for November or Novalee if the a is buggy? I also love Theo with Veda. Adorable!

Yay, congrats!! :D I really like all of your ideas so far, the only one I'd hesitate on is Amos, just because it sounds so similar to the word "anus" and that'd be an unfortunate childhood nickname.

I really like Alma. I used to think it was an old woman's name until I worked with a 20 something girl with the name. It really suits her.

For something to go with Veda, I'd go with something two syllable.

I like Nova if you want to have a bit of a theme (two with v).

Otherwise, without an A on the end, Iris, Marin, Erin, Aisling (pronounced Ashlin. I know of someone who pronounces it Ace-Lyn, which seems a bit weird!)... Maisie, Edie (these are my cats names... crazy, I know, but I love them!)

For boys, I like your choices, but something like Monty might sound like a kid's name in the future. I think Gus (or even Angus), Patrick and Amos are the nicest. I also like Damon, Dylan, Archer, Max...

From your list I like: Gus - nn for Augustus, Arthur, Alma & Nova. I use to love Ivy until Beyonce used it, now everyone thinks it's the greatest thing ever...

Livie! First time (only time) I heard it, I was watching Scandal - it's used as a nickname for Olivia, but I like it as an actual name =)
Clara
Cash - not sure if it's your "style" but it's been in my top 5 since I was 15
Penny

I don't think your girls' names have to "go" with Veda. You'll say them together sometimes, but not all the time, and they are two different individuals who will likely live apart during their adulthood. I think if you like the names independently then they should be fine. Personally I like Olive, Zinnia, and Ivy. Olive is getting more popular now (and the variant Olivia is in the top 10), but Zinnia is still under the radar and sounds very high-energy, quirky, and fun to me.

For the boys, I like Theo, Hugo, Arlo, Patrick, Amos, and Nico. I think Arlo, Nico and Hugo fit the feeling you're going for more.
