Unusual girl's name
May. 20th, 2012 11:34 pmThere's a name that I am kinda beginning to really like, and I'd like your input on it.
Carsyn/Karsyn.
It's pronounced like Carson, the Y just makes it more feminine. What does everyone think? Any bad nicknames that can come from it? Or anything it sounds similar to that could be offputting? The only thing that puts me off slightly is the word 'carcinogen' or 'carcinogenic' which is a chemical that is known to cause cancer.

Date: 2012-05-20 10:57 pm (UTC)I also am not really into "boy" names for girls, so to each their own. :)

Date: 2012-05-20 11:04 pm (UTC)It always makes me think the parents wanted a boy so badly they didn't even consider any girls names at all.

But like the other commenter said, to each their own!

Date: 2012-05-20 11:55 pm (UTC)I dislike the name, whatever the spelling, for a girl. It just sounds too masculine for a girl, in my opinion.
I really dislike Carson with a K and I down right hate Carson with a y.

Date: 2012-05-21 01:34 am (UTC)I like Carson for a boy or a girl because I do like boy's names on girls(I am Georgia and have been George to a lot of people for as long as I can remember), but spell it properly.

Date: 2012-05-21 02:04 am (UTC)"Transferred use of the surname meaning "Carr's son." The name Carr is of several derivations. It is from the Middle English and Scottish car, carre (marsh, mossy place), from the Welsh caer (a fort), and from the Gaelic carr (rock)."
Carsyn/Karsyn both show up as feminine so your idea that the Y makes it feminine is valid... I don't personally like it, but if I didn't know a male Carson in real life I'd probably never think about it. It appears that other people like it, including some who have the name, so go for it!

Date: 2012-05-21 01:35 pm (UTC)Also agreeing that Carson is a boy's name. It's not one I would use, but that's just my personal preference.

Date: 2012-06-06 02:10 am (UTC)Of course, his answer once was "... Your parents named you a boy name. Carson means "Son of Car, or Carl, or Carter, or something like that. They must not love you!"
