semi-intro + favorite naming resources?
May. 20th, 2012 12:58 pmSo glad to see an LJ community that is still active, especially one about a subject I love!
I have a one year old daughter, Philippa Jamie. She was named in honor of Sts. Philip and James (her original due date was their feast day). Her usual nickname is Pippa, but we also call her Pip and Pippa Jem sometimes.
We were a bit nervous that Pippa Middleton would cause the name to become faddish, but the name remains extremely rare in North America. According to the US stats that were just released, while the number of Pippas and Philippas doubled in 2011 over 2010, there were still four times as many girls named Unique as Philippa in 2011.
The runner-up girls' names were Beatrix Carmen and Marie-Rose Eulalie. If she were a boy she would have been August Patrick.
We're hoping to get pregnant again in the next six months or so, so I'll probably be back with naming thoughts once I have a gender.

What naming blogs and websites do you like to visit? I love Baby Name Wizard the best, followed by Name Berry. I've also used the naming tools on Baby Center (which I think are actually taken from BNW). I'm also addicted to the weekly Ask the Name Lady column on Name Candy and I'm bummed that she didn't answer any question this past week.
