This post got me thinking about pet names so let's all share!

My cat's name is the only pet in my life that's relatively "people-sounding". His name is Charleston Benjamin but we usually just call him Charlie. :)

Our two cats have people names, Ethel and Julius Rosenberg. We call them Ethel and Julie, or collectively, The Rosenbergs. :)

I think we are sticking with Nellie. :-) But we will see.

I have an Estella who we call Stella and Magnolia, aka Maggie.

I once had a fish named Finley nn Fin too.

My dogs came with their names when we rescued them: Tipper and Treasure. I sometimes call Treasure "Treasure Ann" but idek why, haha.

I named my cat Apollo Toby (we call her "Pollo" or just "Kitty" most of the time) because we were told she was a boy. By the time we discovered otherwise, I had spent weeks reaching my decision on the name and couldn't bear to change it. Oh, well. :)

I have two cats named Prue and Pacey (Phoebe and Piper were around before, but died a year and eight years ago, respectively), and a dog (Lhasa Apso) named Paris Ginevra Paploo.

Childhood pets:
-Casey (female) and Kelly (male) were brother and sister cats that my parents had before I was born and we only had until I was about seven or eight.
-Hazel (female) was my first dog and was named by her owner for heterochromia (she had one brown eye and one blue eye)

Then there were a long string of goldfish and beta fish with names like Goldie, Pumpkin, Isle, Nagol, Sushi.

Some of my hermit crabs included: Spoon (after the band), Thumper, Felix, Stosh, Ophelia, (from Veronica Mars), Milo, Saturn and Adalaide "Laidey".

My family dog is called Leo because my sister and I are both Leo's and I was wearing a shirt that said "Everyone loves a Leo" when we picked him up. Also (as you might be able to tell) I really liked Veronica Mars and there's a character called Leo so I accepted it as the name. We were supposed to get a female puppy and call her Lily/Lilly.

My pets now are three massive goldfish (three years old) and three rats (11 months). The fish are called Lucky (because he survived when the first fish died), Luna (after Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter) and Indigo after the Tom Milson song of that name. My ratties are Viking (After Eric Northman From True Blood because he's a Viking and Eric is a horrible name for a rat), Teddy (after Teddy Lupin because I wanted a not obvious Harry Potter reference name) and Bennett (after Bennett Halverson from Dollhouse.) Bennett is technically a female character but I just fell in love with the name and I was going to get female rats and name them River (Firefly), Echo (Dollhouse) and Bennett. When I ended up getting boys I figured the name was unisex enough to use.

I like people names for animals. I have a Jack Russell named Camille & a boxer named Roxy (a rescue, she was already 3-4 years old when we got her, I wouldn't have chosen Roxy for her). She is called Roxy Lynn by my mother in law, though.

I don't have photos at hand, but:

- My aunt and uncle had an Old English Sheepdog when I was a kid named Guillaume (they adopted him from a French-speaking home; Guillaume is the French form of "William"). At Christmastime, they got their kids a puppy--a (freaking huge) Great Pyrenees mix with bright blue eyes, and of course, named him "Blue".

- A high school friend got a beautiful tuxedo kitten that she was told was male, and named "him" Batman. Turned out, Batman was a her--but it was a little late to change the name.

- Other aunt and uncle just got a puppy, a German Shorthaired Pointer (my uncle hunts and wanted a gun dog), and named him Jager (my cousin says it's German for "hunter"; I don't speak German, so IDK).

- I live with my roommate's two cats: Smudge is 13 pounds of orange tabby hell. on. wheels, named for the orange smudge on his otherwise white nose. Meeka is the Most Regal Queen of the Castle, who we're quite convinced is a Maine Coon (except for her size--she's small for a Maine Coon, at ten pounds--she's got all of the other traits and the appearance).

Let me try this again, it seems to have not gone through the last time.

Our cat is Oakley, he was named at the rescue and we loved it. Same with our dog Fletcher--the name fits him perfectly. Our other dog is Evelyn, but she was originally named Pepsi before we adopted her... she wasn't old enough to know her name, and I didn't want her to be named after a soda that goes flat 5 seconds after you open it.

Our Siamese/tabby mix's name is Wolfgang Ezekiel Bratcat. Wolfgang was for Mozart, Ezekiel was because mom wanted something Biblical, and Bratcat was just a way of getting around the fact that we had different last names.

Our all-black German Shepherd came with a name that I hate and really wish my parents had changed, so I'm not going to post it.

I have also had dogs named Pixie-Belle, Oreo, Patches, Brutus and Puddles.

I also had a cat named Nitro.

I definitely tend to stay away from people names when it comes to my animals, not sure why.

Most of my animals have had people names (some have sadly passed away) though sometimes the rescue we got them from gave them silly names (like Flake, Bags and Hooch, lol).

The dogs: Norman Wulfric, Ellie-Mae, Zeke, Jack, Billy and Blaise.
The cats: Nicole (coco), Molly, Matisse, Sam, Pablo, Tilly and Flake
The rodents: Arnold Pigman, Munch, Bilbo, Gary, Sammy, Grey, Gerry, Miko and Pod.
The birds: Holly-Berry, Hooch, Frodo, Jaws, Lucy and Bags
The horses: Ricky, Sidney Nightmare and Millicent.

I love when animals have "people" names like Charlie. I think Hank is the funniest name for a dog.

I've never gotten to name a pet, though except a cat that I didn't get to keep when I was a kid (allergies). His name was Cuddles.

The cat my mom still has is Jinx. My sister definitely named her after the cat from Meet The Parents.

And I live with two cats named Boss and Finn (short for Finnigan).

Very cute kitty.

We're down to two pets in my household: Endora, my black cat named for the character on Bewitched and Patty, born on St. Patrick's day. We adopted Patty from a friend who couldn't keep her so she came with the name.

Pets of the past:
Buford - My dad always joked about naming a kid this so, my understanding is, my mom pushed for naming a stray cat that hung around this instead. This was before I was born.
Casey - female German Shepherd named by my dad for the dog he had as a child. Incidentally, that was also a gemale German Shepherd.
Thunder - Male cat, if I remember correctly. Named by my older brother and I because we liked the show ThunderCats.
Fluffy - Older brother's hamster
Lightning - male stray that we started feeding.
Maverick - male Golden Retriever named by my younger brother when he was all of 4 years old because Top Gun was his favorite movie.
Fosters - male Miniature Australian Shepherd named for the beer
Sonic Magellan - Went by Sonic. Hedgehog belonging to my younger brother, a Sonic the Hedgehog fan. Magellan because he was learning about explorers in school and hedgie liked to explore.
Shadow (I forget the middle name but also an explorer, I believe) - Guinea Pig belonging to the same brother, also a Sonic the Hedgehog reference. It turned out that he was a she and Shadow earned some nicknames - Shadowes (shah-doh-wess but became shah-doh-wez) to feminize Shadow, which somehow became Wesley-Anne to my father.
Mischa - mouse belonging to my younger brother. I can't remember what kind it was, but for some reason, it had me looking up Russian names. I somehow convinced my brother that it would be really clever to name it a variation of Michael, like Mickey is, but in another language so that it would be like a little "in" joke that he was Mickey Mouse but it wouldn't be obvious. I don't know. I was 14.

I guess we went sort-of people-y with our pets' names, but not overly so...

Our cats are Domingo, Zorro, and Dante, and our dog is Anya (but she is almost exclusively called Nana).

One of my cats was named when I was a child, and is thus named Snuggs. She definitely does not have a "people-sounding" name, haha.

My other cat I got right before I went to college, and his name is Benito Harvey (Harvey because Harvey Dent is Two-Face in Batman, and he has a split colored face.) He came from the shelter already named Benny, and we expanded his name a bit, but we still mostly call him Benny.
