Switch it up?

I recently saw a name of a customer at work: Takoda. I can only assume this is just a switch up on Dakota; maybe somebody liked Dakota but didn't want to name their kid after a state? What do you think?

And just for amusement, another customer's name was Jeff Leppard. Which of course made me think of Def Leppard. I wonder if his parents did it to him on purpose?

Takoda is a First Nation name. I can't remember which tribe but I know I have heard it before. I like it if it's part of your heritage.

I thought "dakota" itself was a first nation name... I didn't even think that takoda might be a name in its own right and not just switched letters.

I'm in central alberta, and don't know anything about the local first nation names...

I had a customer named Takoda, too! He was a little kid. I like both but I would imagine people would always mistakenly call him Dakota a lot.

Probably not Japanese, although it sounds it. It is homophonous for "It's an octopus" so...most likely not going to be used in Japan. XD
