Ok, I love the name Lucas, but unfortunately I can't use it. I was thinking maybe there's a compromise and maybe could use "Luke" as a nickname. I'm coming up blank right now, but can anyone think of names that could have the nn "Luke"? Thank you!

Just Luke? One of my mom's cousin's has a son called Luke, just by itself. Otherwise, Luca/Luka.

This, my nephew's name is Luke, and his brother is Charlie. They can be just fine as stand alone names.

Just read all the replies :) Well, I can't do just Luke because that's my stepsons name, but we call him something completely different for a nn. I suppose I could still do that since we only see him once or twice a year, but it seems weird to have 2 Luke's as a formal name in the family.

Hm. Yeah, so your husband would have 2 Luke's as sons then? Though, if you're calling this one Luke and the other is technically Luke, that's kind of the same thing anyway, I'd think, right?

I think then if you really like Luke then it's ok to name your son that, since it's something your stepson NEVER goes by, you know? I like Lucian though, if you'd like something proper.

Yea, I think I would like something proper and just have a nn as Luke, that way I have choices. Lucian was a very good suggestion from someone. :)

My cousin is just plain Luke and I worked with a boy who's given name is Luke but we called him Lucas because he liked it better. It was something about it sounding more dignified. I dunno. I think Luke is a perfectly fine name on it's own.
