[identity profile] krisbenson.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
One of my hubby's FB friends just had a baby girl, and they named her Karizma.

Then the very same day I was reading comments to an article or something, and I came across the name Apifanie.

What do you think of these names?

I rarely see names where I think "Really?!"...but I have to admit, these are two that made me think that. No offense to anyone at all, I'm all for people naming their child what they love, these are just not my style at all.

*Edited to say, maybe it's more the spellings that get me, but either way, curious what others think.

Charisma and Epiphany? Even spelled correctly these are ridiculous names.

Charisma isn't terrible it's just NMS.

Same here. But if someone's going to use it, they should at least spell it right.

Not a fan of the names with their original spellings either, but that is just ridiculous :|

Both names are not my style. It doesn't help that they are spelled "creatively".

I couldn't even figure out the second one until I read the comments...

The 2nd one... my very Catholic parents like to poke fun at themselves. They will frequently refer to the week after Christmas as Epi-FANNY. And I swear to G-d that's what I thought the name was...

I know a Karizma who is in 6th grade now, I think. I didn't like the name at first, but think it's ok now.

My thing has always been if you're picking names out of the dictionary, they have to be spelling correctly. I like virtue(y) names as a whole...not really digging these, though.

You're right. The names may not be my style, but they're not horrible. It's the spelling that makes them all the more atrocious.

I hate the spellings and the names, both. :(
Apifanie makes me laugh. XP
