Now we are thinking of naming possible son after my dad. His name is Werner (he's from Germany) but many people call him Warren.
So what do you like best: Wesley August, Wesley Warren, or Wesley Werner? Last name two syllables starting with S.
Also, now my husband wants to name a kid after himself, Nicholas Scott. Would it e weird to name the second son after the father?

Not really. My grandparents named their first son James Francis Jr., after my grandfather, but waited until they had their 7th daughter (11th child) to name her Anne Ellen, after my grandmother. Also, Henry VIII was a second son who was named after his dad (the first son was named Arthur).
I love Nicholas, and I like the sound of Nicholas Scott, but you could also do Nicholas Werner or Nicholas Warren to honor your dad.

Not only that, but it makes the first son wonder why they weren't good enough for it.

I know a few families where the second son is named after the father. In the case of one family it is really perfect because the first son (Daniel) looks like his mother and the second son looks like his dad so he truly is William Jr.

I don't think it's weird at all to name a second-born son after the father, particularly if the first-born is named after his grandfather. [My mom was the third girl born to her family and she was named after her mother. I'm really sure that neither of her older sisters ever took that as a reflection on their own worthiness in my grandmother's eyes.] If your first-born son is so insecure in your love for him that he takes his little brother's name as a sign that he "wasn't good enough," then somewhere along the line you fucked up really badly as parents in ways that had nothing to do with the name.
Edit: Also, my mom just pointed out that her third-born brother was named after their father. Lots of unworthiness complexes in my mom's family, apparently.

Yes I like Wesley Warren too.

Also, naming second son after father = not weird. Aside from any qualms about naming a kid after its parents, anyway. My little sister (third of three) is named for both my mother and father (father's first name = her middle name).

My boss Kristen is married to Daniel Joseph. She named her first son Jason Daniel, and her second son Daniel Joseph, Jr. To me, the weirder part of that is that she used Daniel twice. Not that the second was the Jr.

I think Wesley Warren sounds the best but as it's a middle name I would go with the one with the most meaning, so Werner. but then, my grandfather is from austria and his name is Gottfried. they called him "Jeff" here. I'm not sure what to do if I honor him with a middle name...

I'm German and to me Werner sounds like an old man (probably because I only know old people with that name).
Also, my cousin and her husband named their first son after his grandfathers (my cousin's father and her husband's father) and their second son after her husband himself. (Umm, I hope that sentence makes sense.)

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure I've seen this more than once....
