Down to the middle name

So I think we've finally got it down to 2 possible middle names for baby number 4 here, after much debate and arguing and throwing in the towel :P

1.  Lucian Maxim (he spelled it Maxxim once and I'm not sure how I feel on it becuz I usually don't like messing with name spellings too much, but it kind of looks cool in a way I guess)

2.  Lucian Alexander (Alexander is a family name on my side.  His issue with this one is that then our 3rd boy is the only one that ISN'T named after someone)

Also, the last name would be Mitchell.

So which do you think?

I vote Lucian Alexander too. I love the name Maxim, but it just sounds a bit awkward with the last name.

I vote for Lucian Alexander. I don't like Maxim because all I think of is the magazine. Also, it doesn't sound as nice with the last name.

isn't Maxim some men's magazine? that would ruin it for me. there's always maxwell or maximillian or maximus. or just max.

but I think alexander sounds better with the last name anyway.

Lucian Alexander. Lucian is already sort of exotic so I feel it doesn't need exotic Max(x)im with it cause that would be over the top. Also it just flows nicer. Also maxim is a magazine. But if you do choose maxim, I hope it just has one x.

Yep, I'm going with everyone else here and vote for Lucian Alexander. It sounds much better with the last nameand it doesn't really matter to kids if they were named after someone or not. :)

I like Alexander a lot better, but if the naming after someone is really an issue (it would probably bother me too), I'd rather go with Maxwell or Maximus rather than Maxim.

I do prefer Lucian Maxim Mitchell. I think it's a really great name all around. How do you feel about these names? This is entirely his choices so I want to make sure you're in there too :)

I think I would be satisfied with either name really. At first I wasn't sure I liked Maxim for a lot of the reasons people have listed (i.e. the magazine) but I like it more and more as I go. I'm just not sure it flows so easy with "Mitchell". I kind of think the M's merge so it almost sounds like "Lucian Maxi Mitchell" lol

I like Lucian Alexander a lot, but his initials would be LAM---just something to consider. Lucian Maxim is cool, too, with one "n."

Alexander gets my vote too. I saw below that you weren't sure about the flow of Lucian Maxim Mitchell. I have to agree with you.

Also, wouldn't your 3rd already be the only one not named after someone if you weren't having another child? So were you planning on a 4th all along and thinking you wouldn't use a family name so they would both be without one? I'm not trying to be rude. I'm just curious why it wasn't an issue before. Or maybe it was. What do I know? I suppose your 3rd boy isn't old enough to ask how he would feel about being the only one not a namesake. You could always take the "that makes you special" route, but then, you don't want to make your other children feel less special so...maybe not the best idea. I really don't think it would be too big of a deal to have one who isn't named for someone, but you've got to do what you're comfortable with.

My first 2 boys were actually with my late husband. The oldest got his first name and my husbands brothers name (he died a month before the oldest was born). The second oldest also got his dad's first name, but as a middle name. I've been pretty greatful they both got their dad's name in theirs especially since his death.

The latest two boys, I really wanted my new husbands name involved too, but he wasn't sold on it. He liked a different name more than his own and wanted that one. His family got pretty upset about us not naming the 3rd boy after him when he was born, so really it didn't become an issue with my husband until then? Which I thought was lame lol. Especially when I WANTED his name in there and he said no...can't turn around about it after the fact cuz ur family throws a fit! psh.

Me and my brother are both named after grandparents with our middle names (his middle name is also Alexander. My middle name is Rose and if I had a girl I always planned on using Rose in her name). My sister however did not get a family name and she honestly never really noticed...so I'm not too worried about it. I like involving family names, but I'm not super obsessed with it.

Speaking of my brother and sister...how's this for a sibset: Rebecca Rose, Sarah Marie, and COUGAR Alexander. hahaha what?? *shakes head* Mom says if she could go back in time she would have named my sister Nova and me Sunshine....or Pippi. yeaaaaaaaaaaa. She was a hippy. *shrug*

While I love Maxim better than Alexander, I think Lucian Alexander Mitchell has a better, more even flow than Lucian Maxim Mitchell.
