Mar. 22nd, 2012 08:23 amThoughts on the name Calvin? I am 29 weeks pregnant with a boy and my husband and I are going round and round with names. He and I have very different taste and have yet to compromise on one. He seems fixated on "C" names and the standouts for him are Calvin and Clark, Calvin being his favorite. I am trying to consider it and at least be willing to add it to my short list, but I don't know, I'm just not there yet. The nickname Cal wouldn't be bad, but Calvin as his name? We're both big fans of Calvin and Hobbes and while I do like the reference, I don't know if I like the name well enough to stand on its own without constantly explaining the inspiration behind it.
My list of favorites are...
Griffin/Gryphon
Gideon
Crosby (the only "C" name that I really care for)
Milo
Jude
Also, his middle names are already pretty much decided, as they are namesakes. They will be Phillip and either Courtland or Lewis, depending on what we decide for a first name. And our last name begins with "Br" and ends in "er". And he will be joining older sisters Delanie and Elysa.

Date: 2012-03-22 03:12 pm (UTC)I love Griffin (Griff) Crosby and Milo. I like Jude, but mainly as a middle name. I feel the kid will constantly be subjected to, "Heyyyyy, Judeeee, don't make it bad!" That's not a reason to dismiss the name per se, (I love the Beatles) but it could get very old very fast. There's also the patron saint of lost causes association, which I like, but the Beatles will prevail, I'm sure.
I like the combinations: Griffin Crosby, Milo Griffin and Griffin Jude (even though you are already set on a middle name)
I love your girls' names! :) Congrats on baby # 3!

Milo Phillip Lewis
Milo Phillip Courtland
Griffin Phillip Lewis
Jude Phillip Courtland
Gideon Phillip Lewis
Crosby Phillip Courtland
Lewis would work best with "C" names and names ending in "n".
