Celia vs Cecilia? Pros and cons of both?

[identity profile] ohhvelocitygirl.livejournal.com 2012-03-22 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Cecilia sounds prettier to me, and could always have Celia as a nickname

[identity profile] ohhvelocitygirl.livejournal.com 2012-03-22 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
But I've always preferred Cecile, fwiw

I actually prefer Cecily.

But of the two, Cecilia.

This is exactly what I was going to comment. Cecily is in my top 5 favorite girls names at the moment.

I like the two very much but I think I prefer the later. Celia always reminds me of Celiac Disease. :P

I like Celia, but Cecilia seems more complete. Cecily is cute too, or Cecile.

Cecilia sounds like more of a full name whereas Celia is more of a nickname. That's my #1 babyname!!

CECILLIA! YOU'RE BREAKIN' MY HEART.....

Personally, my grandmother's name is Cecilia and she's an asshole.

So Celia.

How annoying. I'm glad I only once got a "Dirty Diana" reference thrown at me. Once was enough to annoy me.

I remember once reading an article (it was probably posted in this community) about girls with the name Katrina right around the time the hurricane hit, and the things people would say to them. So many stupid comments...

I hear you. My name is Nikki, and once when I was seventeen, a customer at the bookstore where I worked started singing Prince's Darling Nikki. I was HORRIFIED.

I still love the name Cecilia though, and it was on my girls list. (I ended up with two boys though)

I like Cecilia. I think Cece/CC/Cici is cute, Celia could be a nn as well.

Cecilia. Use Celia as a nickname.

I prefer Celia, but I can't say why. Perhaps it just looks prettier, and you don't have the spelling confusion with Cecillia vs Cecelia vs Cecilia?

I like Celia and Cee as nicknames. I also like Cecily!

[identity profile] satunian.livejournal.com 2012-03-22 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
I like both a lot, but I think I like Celia more.

Cecilia: pros - can be shortened to C.C. (could be a pro or a con depending on whether you like C.C.), it's the name of a saint.
Celia: pro - it's short, sweet and pretty. :) I prefer Celia, but I do also like Cecily (which someone else already brought up).

Cecilia is harder to pronounce, but it's a version that allows you to use Celia as well.
Celia is easier to pronounce, but has less variation to offer.

I kind of prefer Celia, Cecilia is a mouthful in any language.

I kind of prefer Cecilia. Celia can be used as the nickname, so I'd get both name, lol. ;)

I love Cecilia

I saw Celia Dove as a double middle name combo on another site's forums and I think it's GORGEOUS. So I vote straight Celia.
