What do you guys think of the name Konstantin?

Not even remotely my style in the slightest, but also not a bad name at all. Wouldn't use it, but wouldn't bat an eye if I encountered someone with it.

In all honesty, I'm not a fan, because this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqJXxHi6RwQ) immediately got stuck in my head....

Had a little friend in fourth grade by that name, though that was in Germany where it's more common. We called him Konsti.

I like it, but I'd never use it because I'm about as British as they get and it just wouldn't work.

I like it, but it's not my style...if that makes sense. Like, I think it's a neat name, but I wouldn't personally use it. It would be cool to see someone else use it.

I like the spelling Constantine, but I don't care for Konstantin. I don't know why.

I love it. I'd love Constantine on a girl as well.

Is it pronounced the same way Constantine is? Because if it is, I MUCH prefer that spelling. If it's closer to Constantinople, then I think Constantin would still be a better spelling choice.

What's the difference? Aren't they pronounced sort of the same way?

Ah, well I've heard them said as:

Constantine - "Con-stan-teen"
Constantinople - "Con-stan-tin-ople"

The difference being the 'teen' and 'tin' sounds respectively. But that could be just because Constantinople doesn't have as much emphasis on the 'tin' part. I could be wrong, but that's just how I've always heard it said.

Hmmm I see. I think probably with the teen ending. We're Norwegian which is why the K spelling :) My sister is going to use it as a middle name for her baby who's joining us this weekend.

I absolutely LOVE IT. And the nickname Kostya (if you like Russian nicknames.... I think it might also be a Greek name?)

It makes me think of Konstantinov (a former hockey player's last name; actually 2, but I only know the one).

I don't like it (or that spelling). I've only heard it as a last name (which is where I do like it).
