[identity profile] lipsty.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Since we've named our daughter, it's time to start thinking of new girls' names in case our next child is also a girl! Our boy name is set, has been for years, but I have more fun with girls' names. My husband is pretty veto-happy, but here are some that I've been able to slip past his censors.

Sylvie
Beatrice
Lux
Meredith

Our daughter is Wren Melissa B. and a boy would be Willoughby Jonathan B (it's accidental that both names start with W). I'm not sure about middle names for the next girl, but it would likely be a family name, such as Josie, Kasia, or Adelaide.

I love all of your girl names! Adelaide is a first name in my name sets, and Beatrix (which is similar to Beatrice) is in a middle name slot. Lux is really interesting - I've never really thought of that one before.

Not quite sure about Willoughby, It's not exactly my style. Wren on the other hand is one of my absolute favourite names. Really like Lux and Beatrice as well. Wren and Lux or Wren and Bea would be cute together as a sib set.

I think Sylvie is the prettiest.

Beatrice is my favorite, but I don't know if you want alliterative initials. Have you considered lengthening Josie to Josephine for a middle name?

I think Wren and Willoughby are fine as a sibset-- they're not really even alliterative since the "w" in Wren is silent. It's nowhere near as bad as the sibsets that sound really similar. I really like Willoughby!

For the girl names, I like Beatrice, but I think Sylvie sounds adorable as a sibset with Wren. I don't like Lux at all, sorry. Out of the middle names, I like Adelaide best. Josie is cute, but it sounds a little too nicknamey for a middle name imo.

I've never met a Josie who wasn't Josephine. And my sister's name is Josephine, but she's a JoJo. Maybe nicknaming for Josephine is an American thing.

I'm kind of convinced that Beatrice will be a girl name that makes a come back. I don't know why. Most people I know are like "oh god no" but I think it sounds super pretty. I have a friend that named her daughter Vivian and thought the same thing, that it's a name that'll make a come back. I love the three middle names u listed.

Like all of them, great taste =)

I think I like Sylvie and Beatrice best though, including taking the sib named Wren into account. Wren & Sylvie or Wren & Beatrice are gorgeous sibsets imo.

I loved Wren when you first posted the news of your daughters birth. I likewise just love Willoughby and think the two names sound excellent together. If you have a boy you're all set!!

Now for a girl I like Lux (and happen to think it would sound lovely paired with Merideth) but I believe Sylvie and Beatrice work best with Wren and Willoughby. I think I'd lean towards Beatrice, but Sylvie is so cute.

My favorite middle name you posted was Adelaide and I think now that I take that into consideration my favorite name is Beatrice Adelaide.

Beatrice Adelaide B. with Wren Melissa B. and Willoughby Jonathan B. I think that works great together!

I kinda like Sylvie. I like Lux and Meredith and I can't seem to get myself to like Beatrice. Willoughby seems like big name for little boy and to me sounds a little feminine with the "Willow" sound in there. I happen to call my cat WillowBee (she's a girl) so that's probably why it seems more feminine to me and can't see it on a little kid.

Sylvie is my favourite by far - I think it's really pretty.

Congratulations! I think Lux goes nicely with Wren (I like sibling names that have the same number of syllables, that's just me). Also Adelaide is my favourite of the middle names... Adele is my Grandmothers middle name and that's the name we have picked out as a first name if our baby is a girl. ;) Having said that I don't think "Lux Adelaide" has as much of a ring to it as Wren Melissa... but those are my 2 faves. :)

Whatever you choose I don't think you'll go wrong as you have some very nice (slightly unusual but not "weird") names picked out there. All the best!

Hmm. Lux is a soap brand in Australia.

The others are quite nice though.

I adore Beatrice Adelaide or Meredith Kasia!

I also adore Lux (I once knew a cute little girl with this name), but as the comment above states, it's a soap brand in Australia and so I immediate associate it with that...

It's a soap here in the U.S. too, or was until fairly recently. Within my lifetime certainly.

Are you sure it's not sold in the U.K.? Unilever's U.K. website says they sell it over there.

www. unilever.co.uk/brands /personalcarebrands /lux.aspx

I ran across their website when I was trying to see if it was still sold here in the U.S. (Sadly, no.)

I love Adelaide. for a first. if you'd rather it be a middle then it needs a short first name, like 1-2 syllables. I'm not a huge fan of Lux, though.
