Thoughts on Rickard for a girls name?

And, if anyone can give me names with really...weird, I guess, nicknames. Like Bazza for Barry and Kez for Karrie or Kerrie... Thanks!

for a girl? No. For a boy, sure.

blech.

Growing up, we had an elementary school in a lower income area called Rickard...the kids that went there were known as the Rickard Retards....horribly mean, but it was the 80's....I could never not associate the name Rickard without that...

It's too similar to Richard for me, tbh.

It seems like a surname, and it's way too close to Richard to be feminine, for me.

Cheryl = Chezza

Rickard is my grandmother's maiden name. I don't think its a girl's name at all.

Oh. My first thought was "horrible" when I saw it, and that was before I read the rest of the sentence. I just find it really ugly in general, sorry. X(
If it must be used, no, definitely not for a girl.

God no.

That's all I've got.

Oh, no it's not.

On the Baz or Bazza for Barry, Kaz or Kaz or Kazza for Karen, Shazza for Sharon, Daz or Dazza for Darren, Tez or Tezza for Terry type names. just look for something Australian.

We pretty much do that or something like it with most names.

Not a fan at all.
I would think she was named after the beer. It's okay to name a dog after alcohol (I've met dogs named Whiskey, Rye and my grandparents had a dog named Molson) but not children.

I really only see Rickard as a boy's name (and I don't like it too much for a boy.)

There are tons of nicknames like that. Robbo for Robert. Jimbo for James. Cazza for Caroline etc.

Baz for Sebastian, and at school one of my class mates called Sabrina was nicknamed Sally.

Not for a girl, I'm afraid - too Richardy!

As for 'weird' nicknames ending in z or x, this was commonplace amongst the British 90s 'Geeza' culture.

Shaz - Sharon
Baz - Barry
Tez - Terry or Terence (I knew a Terence that went by Tez)
Faz - Farrell
Daz - Darren or Daniel
Bex - Rebecca
Jax - Jaquie/Jackie or Jaqueline
Loz - Lauren/Laura
Boz - Boris
Woz - Warren

...these are all nicknames that I came across in my youth. There are probably tonnes more!!

Rickard sounds horrible for a girl's name. Sorry. Too masculine.

In terms of names with weird nicknames...Jeremy, nickname Jezza! Thanks to Top Gear, UK for teaching me that. ;)

Some other "weird" nicknames: Sudie for Susan, Mame/Mamie/Maymie for Margaret

I also knew someone named Ezekiel who went by Zico (ZEEK-oh).
