I was talking to a friend of mine who's a teacher recently and she's just started the school year. First day, she came across the name:

La-a

She tried to pronounce it LAH-ah but was soon corrected because the correct pronunciation is la-DASH-ah... so the hyphen is "a la phonetic" as my friend put it.

Seriously? La-a? I was speechless (which is very rare!).

Yeah, this is an urban legend. I won't believe it until I see a birth certificate, tbh. Everyone who spouts this story says it happened to a friend or a friend of a friend and no one ever actually shows up with the La-a or the Orangejello or the Female.

Or, at least, if you aren't then your friend is and you should probably be very angry with her for making you look bad in front of all of these strangers.


And yes, I do realize that it's possible, but seriously, meeting a person with a name like La-a, Shithead, Orangejello, Vagina, etc. is right up there with being abducted by aliens. If it has happened to you, you should probably just accept right now that no one is going to believe you because the 9,000 people who came before you and lied about it ruined it for you.
