[identity profile] fellclutch.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
To continue in the trend of celebrities naming their baby girls somewhat-but-not-really-unisex names, Marla Sokoloff who hasn't done too much since playing Gia on Full House (she made Stephanie try a cigarette and invited her over for a makeout party) just had a baby girl she named...Elliotte. The way it's spelled makes it look all French and feminine but it's still a boys name to me. Even despite the Scrubs character.

Thoughts?

I don't mind boys names as girls names tbh, but Elliotte just looks dumb.

It's kind of annoying.

But I just had a Full House nerdgasm for some reason.

I do NOT remember her in Full House! But I do remember she was James Franco's girlfriend at one point and that makes me a bit jealous. But the nerdgasm at mentioning a full house character did happen here on a smaller scale I think. Haha. You cracked me up on that one! ;-)

I am not loving the gender switch of Elliote. Sometimes it's cute and it works well, but I just don't understand this one. I mean, was this a nod to her family somehow? I've no idea why it was done otherwise.

Awful, yes. Not unisex and it just looks like you don't know how to spell Elliot.

Yuck. I accept Elliot as a girl's name after Scrubs made me warm up to it, but trying to French it up is no luck!!

Love the name Elliot, the way she spelt it sucks so bad though.

I think Elliot/Elliott and any variation is the next Addison and Avery, tbh. It's becoming more and more popular on girls.

I'm not a big fan of it on girls, but I don't hate it.

Dislike the spelling.
It's still a boys' name to me.

Boys' name. Horrible spelling.

I still see it as a boys name but because of scrubs could see it as acceptable on a girl. Although I never felt Elliot on scrubs was named correctly.

But the spelling is no bueno.

I've only ever known girls named Elliot/Elliott and so it's NOT a boy's name to me at all. I think it's a great name, and while it's more feminine to me, that spelling makes me feel yucky.
