Serenity is what my hubby wants to name a daughter when/if we have one...only because of his fav movie/tv series. I'm not a fan though, so it won't be happening.
It's one of my boyfriend's favorites as well. Serenity is alright but we love River (the main character) a lot and plan to use it on a boy (even though it's a girl in the movie).
I love Firefly. It is my favorite show. I have quite a bit of Firefly/Serenity related stuff. I have written and read fanfiction for it. I'm probably going to dress as River next Halloween. However, despite this obsessive love of mine, I would never name a child Serenity. It's a pretty enough sounding word, but I keep hearing Simon in the episode Out of Gas telling Inara that he always thought Serenity had a "vaguely funereal sound." :\
So while Serenity Lenay flows well and has a nice enough sound, I'm going to have to say I dislike it.
It took me far too long to decipher nms as not my style. I'm too tired. However I concur, this name isn't my style at all. But I love that it's spelled correctly. It does my heart good.
Lenay seems like one of those names to me. The ones where they're not actually meant to be baby names, but people come up with them when they're kids as fantasy names and then end up using them after all. Like...Skye.
Serenity is beautiful. Reminds me of Jack Layton's daughter (Canada) who recently named her newborn Solace. I know it's not the same, but it has that similar 'calm and beautiful' feeling to it.
I don't know the meaning of Lenay, but it does remind me of Lenore from Edgar Allan Poe's poem. If the name itself has special meaning to you, then I think it would be touching that you'd use it.

I like the middle name, however.
