Middle name suggestions for Theodore!
Feb. 7th, 2012 12:38 pmI thought we weren't going to try for another baby for another year or a little more (I was hoping not more!) but that's changed. Now we're saying as soon as we can move into a 3 bedroom place we'll start trying immediately after. That may still be some months off, but it's a lot quicker than I had expected!
I've been playing around with Henry and Theodore ever since the name combo game. Which is unusual since I usually avoid the more classic names. But I felt maybe some of my boy picks weren't masculine enough. So I started looking in different directions to cover my bases. I am not worried about either of them gaining more popularity. I love them because they're definitely masculine.
I think Henry Theodore is just terrific in that order so I don't need help for Henry. But I would also like to come up with a combo using Theodore as the first name, on the premise we would call him Teddy as a nickname.
I've already considered Theodore Henry, and Theodore Henrik, but I want to see what else we can come up with. So it would be Theodore ______ Gibbons.
Another question: Is Hank the only nickname for Henry or am I missing one?

I know you said you usually avoid the more classic names, but that's all I could really think of to go with Theodore. :\ If you don't mind, what other names do you like--the ones that you worry aren't masculine enough? Theodore and Henry are definitely masculine in that girls aren't really stealing the names, but they're not what I would call manly, although that may just be the opinion of some of my family talking. Personally, I like Theodore. I like the nns Theo and Teddy. I also think Henry is nice so I'm not trying to be mean!

Date: 2012-02-07 11:31 pm (UTC)We can just forget Henry now, my husband outright vetoed it. My SIL's ex-husband (and deadbeat father) is named Henry. Having never met him, I forgot all about that. A damn shame, I really loved that name.
The names I was referring to as possibly being not masculine enough are Rafe Hollis and Jasper Grayson. Although I really love Rafe, and it's still high on my list.
And masculine is good enough for me, I'm not looking for really manly like Bruno or Chuck!

Date: 2012-02-09 12:35 am (UTC)My family really went the T.R. route (Theodore Roosevelt, Theodore Russell), hence my choice of R middle names:
Theodore Richard
Theodore Robert
Theodore Robin
Theodore Roderick (The end of the first sound a little too similar to the start of the second, I think.)
