I am pregnant and due in April with my first child, a little girl. We've decided on the name Elaina. Spelled this way in honor of my sick grandmother, whose middle name is Elaine. The name has always been a top choice. I'm not sure on a middle name yet. We've thought about Marie. Any suggestions?

Marie is one of those universally good-sounding middle names, so naturally it fits quite well. According to Name Nerds (http://www.namenerds.com/uucn/advice/middle.html) it's the most common middle name for girls. Does it have any special meaning to you? Elaina would actually be a lovely middle name, because it, like Marie, has the stress on the second syllable.

The middle name may depend some on your last name, and how many syllables it has. This thread (http://nameberry.com/nametalk/threads/69900-Syllable-Combos) may be useful to start thinking about patterns and whether Elaina would be better as first or middle, or if Elaine may even be a better option.
