L names
So it seems my husband and I have a different taste for names than the average person. I wanted to get opinions on names we like to get a feel for how the "average" person thinks about them.
[not in any specific order]
Lorna
Lorena
Leona
Lela [not a serious chance but I did like it]
Lenna

I have a daughter with an 'L' name - Leila (pronounced Lay-Lah). We're looking into other 'L' names if we ever have another girl. ;) We like Laurel and Lorelai.

Lorena~Eh. Sorry, but it only conjures up images of Lorena Bobbitt who did a not so very nice thing to her husband's private part.
Leona~Leona Helmsley. NO.
Lela~Gorgeous!
Lenna~I'm adding this one to my list. Beautiful!
Have you considered Lila/Lilah or Laila/Layla? What about Lorelai, Luisa, Lucinda, Lorraine, Luna or Liza. Just a thought. I love your unique taste in names, though. Very refreshing! :)

Lorena makes me think Bobbitt, but that could just be my age bracket and cultural referencing where as you're kids wouldn't have that reference.
The others I'm not fond of, but don't directly dislike either, they just aren't names I would chose. Lela doesn't sound as if it would age well, it just sounds kinda childish to me.

Lorena - Ok, kind of dated but otherwise fine. Just nms personally.
Leona - I like this one. I also like Leola. Both make me think of lions (leo the lion) and seem like sleek, elegant, regal names to me.
Lela - Nice
Lenna - Ok, kind of bland.
Lana - Seems like it belongs on this list, so there you go.

Lorena - Automatically associate it with Lorena Bobbitt.
Leona - I love this name, like ellemennope I think of lions, and I agree that it's a regal name.
Lela - One of my best friends! she was named after her great-grandmother (or great-aunt, I don't remember right now) I think it ages well.
Lenna - Eh, I don't like it. It's like Lenny, kind of plain sounding.
Lana - It's nice.

BUT
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the name Lela (assuming you want to pronounce it Layla and not Leela), and I do think it ages well since the only Lelas I have met were middle-aged. One of them was my host mom when I was studying abroad, and I really loved her, so I've thought about using the name for my kids too.

Lorena- This name I love! I would say Lor-ay-na
Leona- I don't like the name but I have good associations with it. It seems old-ladyish to me.
Lela- Looks like a nn for Lelani to me.
Lenna- I really like the name Lena, but Lenna looks like even LESS than a nn...like a play name.
Have you considered:
Lenora
Elena
Laila
Lila
Lelani

But if I HAD to pick one that I liked.. it would have to be leona.... none of them really do it for me otherwise..
lorena... lorena bobbit.. it's all I can think of.

Lorena - I like this
Leona - it's okay
Lela - actually I like it, maybe as a nn for something else though
Lenna - this seems more nicknamey to me. Maybe a nn for Lorena?
