Or more correctly, I hate all the names I've ever come up with at this point.  At least in combination with my last name and my current kids' names anyway.

Does anyone have the Baby Name Wizard book?  If so could you post about Amelia (especially the sibling part)?  I'd really appreciate it.

any other sibling names (particularly girls) that 'go' with Amelia in your opinion?

I dont have the book, but it's ranked 84 for 2005 in USA, steadily climbing unfortunatly.
It's 14 in england :-(

It kind of irked me that it seems to be becoming so popular but truly it was the only name I really loved while pregnant. I heard it and it stuck with me to the point that I basically had to bribe my hubby to let me use it. :) also, it's a family name that goes way back.

I do like Felicity, Olivia and Chloe but am on the fence about them all for various reasons.

I feel your frustrations right now. Talking about names in the abstract is a lot easier than actually having to name a new human being!

I don't have the book, sorry. The only idea I have is to use the Social Security name website to see what other names were popular at the turn of the last century, when Amelia was also popular. http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/

One of my favorites that is off our list is Lydia. That seems to go well without being "matchy." I also like Clara and Beatrice.

I know! I used to have tons of names I really liked (actually still do) but I can't imagine actually saying them everyday for the rest of my life.

Mine didn't like Lydia, that's why it's off the list! I don't know why not - I think Lyddie is a fantastic nickname, and Lydia is somewhat elegant and would age well. Oh well...

Amelia is a great name,My friend has a sister Amelia and the all the sisters are Sarah, Amelia and Madeline (mae)...I think Amelia goes with a lot of names...here's some suggestions....

I like Felicity, Victoria & Natalia. (we considered Natalia for DD, but we knew someone at the time who just named their dd that -- and her sis is Victoria - so we didn't use it).

I knew a little girl named Miranda, and they called her Panda as a NN. I always thought it was really cute!

And BTW, I totally know how you feel about the name association... but the second she's born and in your arms and if you call her Miranda, you won't have even a second thought about anyone else you know with that name. It'll be all about your Miranda.

Geeze, between typing that paragraph and watching the baby just being born on A Baby Story behind me, I'm all sad and jealous. Heh. =P

I've been thinking Zoe a bit too. I like Sophie but I don't know about DH. and do you think it's too popular? I love Eliza, but my kids have a cousin Elijah (whom they never see mind you, but still) and dh thinks it's too close. plus my best friend loves this name and wants to use it so I'd feel bad I think. :(

I think Sophie is a bit to popular (even though I did suggest its even more popular variant, Sophia). It's a beautiful name, but if you're one to shy away because of popularity, it's probably not for you. I hear of SO many new babies named Sophia/Sophie lately.

I think Zoe and Amelia sounds really good, also, Zoe isn't actually as popular as I assume it is. Sophie is gorgeous, I think that it is more classic than popular so gives the impression of being very popular. Sophie and Amelia sounds lovely too, but not as good as Zoe, I think. I can see where your DH (what does DH stand for?!) is coming from with Eliza and Elijah - they do sound very similar. But I think it would be ok on cousins, especially as they don't see each other much. Would be way too much for siblings though, I can just imagine twins named Eliza and Elijah!! How awful! Anyway, back on track, if your best friend loves it then it could be tricky, but you also love it so she doesn't exactly have 'rights' to it!

I seriously think I might have named my first dd Eliza if it weren't for all the "controversy". My friend does have one other name she likes and so far she only has a boy and the chances of her acutally having girl twins (which is when she'd want to use the name Eliza) are pretty slim... but then I feel guilty since I'd consider so many other names and she only likes TWO. like it would be selfish to have to pick that one. I think I think about this stuff too much lol.

Elizabeth is my MIL (I would not really jump on the naming after her idea and neither would my DH). Katherine is my best friend (we see her enough that it would be too confusing) and Kayla is my step son's sister by his mother. I thought it was kind of a weird coincidence that you picked out those names. :)
