babynames | (no subject)

I'm 25 weeks pregnant with a little boy and I have two names I really like. My husband isn't quite thrilled with either of them, but he hasn't suggested anything that I can pronounce (he's Mexican with Aztec roots and likes long Aztec names or hispanic names with lots of rolled R's)

So the names I like are Kailan and Evren. Unfortunately, I'm not thrilled with the meaning of Kailan. It's the french word for a type of
broccoli, the filipino word for, "When" (pronounced differently) and in English it's a girl's name meaning, "keeper of the keys". On the other hand, it has the most votes from friends and family. Evren turns out to be a turkish name meaning "Universe". When I did a google search for it, all the guys with that name turned out to be musicians. My favorite site was Evren Ozan's site. He's a 11 year old flute prodigy. I'm planning to buy his CD for my birth music.

I found both names online, I saw that other people had named their boys that, but only a few that I could see.

Anyway, what do you all think?

I like evren better than Kailan. I think of kailan as a girls name

I really feel that Cailin (even with a K) is a girl's name. Listen to Unwritten Law's song "Cailin."

I prefer Evren out of the two choices.

kailan sounds feminine. evren is very cool, though. it definitely sounds like the name of a creative person.

I skimmed your post and when I saw "Kailan" I thought you were having a girl. While I thought it was a girl I thought Evren was too masculine, so now I know it's a boy I say definitely Evren.

I hope that made some kind of sense.

I really like Evren, especially beecause of the meaning. You could always name him Evren Kailen? I'm not too fond of the name Kailen, because it reminds me too much of Katelyn.

i think evran is so cute. and totally different and easy to say and just nice.
kailan is too trendy sounding. k names are bad in general. sorry to all of you with k names.
