[identity profile] erikalyn.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
So my husband and I have tentatively chosen the name Mila for our baby if it is a girl. It's not at the top of my list but it's the only name my husband likes and I was the one who suggested it to him, so I guess that's it!

I want a middle name that will honour my mother in some way but we are having a hard time thinking of something that sounds good with Mila. The names we have to work with are Karen and Ann. I like Mila Kate but my husband says that Kate sounds too "preppy and white" (I am white but he is not).

So, what are some names you can think of that will honour my mama and sound good with Mila?

Baby will be joining siblings Stella Marie and Felix Xavier.

What about the middle name Karin (Ka-Ryn/Rin -not Karen).. Joining the two together..
Or even Karey-Ann..
Just a thought.

It's Cornish, according to Behind the Name. It's a GP. Here's to your husband surprising you. :)

Can I ask who you'd be saying Mila. MY-LA or ME-LA, I've heard it said both ways. I like it regardless.

You're kids names are awesome and I really like Kate with it [probs a little biased, my best friend is called Kate :p] How about Mila Kay? I like the difference in syllables.

Mila Concetta

cause i'm guessing your husband is latino. concetta has some of the same sounds as karen and you could tell your mom you wanted the same sound but not necessarily the same word. plus it's unique. i don't think mila sounds good with karen or ann, sorry!

I really like Mila Karen, especially in this sibset!
I don't like Mila Kate because it sounds like a yogurt brand or something, and besides I'm not a fan of nicknames in the full name.

Mila Annika

I also like the Mila Kay suggestion. I think Mila sounds good with a one syllable or three+ syllable middle name. Mila Ann sounds like Milan pronounces odd.

I kept thinking about this all night (since my children are not of the mind that mommy should be allowed to sleep at night like normal people and should watch hours upon hours of She-Ra and He-Man on Netflix) and I had nothing. And then I thought of this:

Mila Claire

I think it's really cute!!! You can still hear sounds of Karen in it, and I think it flows really well with Mila, and also I think overall it works great within the sibset.
