i love the name TOBY. 
i even am liking it for a girl, only TOBIE.

what names could this be a NN for?

*tobin just seems feminine to me

any ideas?  i dont particularly *like* any of those options

I love the name Toby as a name ,not aa a nn. Well maybe for another name but Im not a fan of any of the options. I dont think its a dogs name at all! I knew a Toby and there is a Toby on my favourite show. Tobie is very cute for a girl too, I never would have thought of it as a dogs name.

The only Tobin I ever met was a very little boy, and I liked it. I also like Toby. Probably because of the movie Labyrinth!

The name Tobias makes me think of Tobias Tinwhiskers. He was the bad guy in some easter special that came out in the mid-eighties, I think. But probably nobody else on the planet would think of that. I'm weird.

I can take it seriously on a person. I always kind of clump Toby and Tony together in my head as similar names. And if girls can be Toni, they can probably be Tobi too, that would be quite cool.. I'm not usually into giving girls boys' names either.

My Dad used to call him Dough-bee (because he was a bit heavy.) He also used to call him Don-ee (some twisted way of saying Donut)

Tobin is way masculine. The only name more masculine than Tobin on this list is probably Tobit (!!!)

I think there are some nicer feminine names out there for nn Tobie. Toviah is a feminine form of Tobiah. Toiba means "dove" in Yiddish. Tova(h) is a lovely Hebrew name that means "good." If you're willing to stretch, there's always Tabitha/Tabea as well.

Can't really think of any more names, but I'm just here to say that Toby is NOT a dog's name. Even though one of the saddest books I ever read as a child was about a dog called Toby, I still always associate the name with humans.

For example, Toby on The West Wing is not in the least canine, and then there's Tobias from Arrested Development (though perhaps he isn't the best person to name your child after, heh). My sister's son is going to be called Tobias with Toby for short. Love it!
