What are your thoughts on Clementine? NN could be Clem or Em. Too much like a little orange?

i think its really cute, and i like Em as a nickname more then Clem, but i'm not sure if its a name that would age well...

I went to school with a Clementine. She went by 'Minty'.

I think Clementine is adorable! It's not really my style personally, but I think I would gush over a little girl named Clementine! :)

I think it's a cute name for a little girl, but might be hard to have as an adult. I also think of the song "Oh My Darling, Clementine" which is sad.

Yes, I immediately think of the song as well. For me it was a hilarious/ridiculous song growing up because my parents sang it that way for some reason, but I'm not sure how it's associated for other people.

It's been growing on me lately, actually. But unfortunately my father's name is Clement and he utterly hates it. Actually, hate would be a gross understatement. He goes by Clem, which he prefers, but often gripes about the negative impact the name has had on him. :/

It's cute, but it's a little too old-fashioned for me, personally.

I love Clementine! Our last name starts with a hard C so it's off my list, but I love it. I'd opt for no nickname but I like Em over Clem.

I'm not a fan at all.
It might be okay on a child (I keep picturing a three/four year old), but I don't think it ages well...

All I can think of is "Oh my darlin', oh my darlin', oh my darlin' Clemintine..." Not really a fan, although it's not horrible.

I think Clementine is sweet, but it would probably be a hard name to have if kids still learn the song in music class. It's also difficult to nickname. Em, Emmie, Emma or some variation thereof is nice enough, although Clem in the more intuitive nickname. My problem with Clem is that, and maybe it's because I'm in the Southern U.S., I hear it and think hick. It's commonly used when making jokes about so-called rednecks.

I think it's kind of cute, but it got cut from our list because of the oranges. And Clemmie is a nice nickname, IMO.

I love love love the idea of a little girl named Clem. :) Totally tried to talk my husband into it, but it's a boy for us (and we're completely stumped, because I don't love Clem for a boy for some reason).

I think it's adorable - I know a little girl named Clementine and I think it really suits her. She goes by Clemmy though which I don't like.

I think that a Clementine under 6 or over 60 would be perfect. I can't imagine Clementine as an 8th grader though...

[identity profile] laminy.livejournal.com 2012-01-24 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I really don't like it, at all.
