Date: 2012-01-19 02:14 am (UTC)It's taken me a long time but I am extremely happy and satisfied with every name on this list so I won't feel like I settled if I don't think one name suits the baby and have to use a different option. Now, no matter what name I choose from this list, it will be a name I absolutely adore. :)

Date: 2012-01-19 09:10 am (UTC)I like Gemma a lot. It was on our list with our first (went with Brenna instead). Fleur is pretty as well. Only girl's name there that I don't like is Hermione... ugh, lol irritates me so much! I like your boy names, but other than Colin, none jump out at me. Well, no, I do love Rafe, but think I might prefer it spelled Ralph.
Are you pregnant? I'm impressed you have all these picked! We only have semi-set in stone our next girl's name, and just the one choice. Of course, we're only TTC... have awhile to decide.

Date: 2012-01-19 10:24 am (UTC)Gemma is my "favorite" (they're all my favorites, but Gemma is just the one I'm most fond of) and Hermione was the middle name my son helped me come up with wand I likewise loved it. It was a battle settling on it over other options, but we're happy with it.
I love Fleur, and Beauregard. I love French sounding names, but I have to be careful not to over do it or risk being vetoed by the husband, lol! Amazingly, he didn't hate any of these names or would change anything about them. Let me tell you, that's an oddity right there! :D
I don't know where you got Colin at though, since I never even considered it and never will. I think maybe you confused Hollis?? I love Hollis. I like Rafe spelled that way because when you write Ralph, they don't pronounce it the same.
And no, I'm not currently pregnant! I can understand why you might think so though! We just know for sure that we want more children in the future, and I find it to be far less stressful when I'm not agonizing over name choices *during* pregnancy. Plus the next time around I don't want to find the gender out until the baby is born. So I decided to come up with my names ahead of time, and get all the agonizing out of the way now.
I've had every sort of screw up you could have with naming your children. Thinking I was having a girl until the last month of pregnancy. Having our girl name usurped by a friend due 3 months after me. (okay it was one letter off, but still she threw a fit about it) Announcing your top picks to friends and family and having all of them ripped apart to the point I couldn't hear the names without being angry at everyone. And then we did it once the easy way: no telling, settling right away and then tada! using that name! No stress. So now I'm super secretive to the people I interact with in real life, and I'm super prepared. ;-)
I did not mean this to become a book. I apologize!

Date: 2012-01-19 10:42 am (UTC)I don't love French names per se, but I tend to gravitate toward some of them. :) We're pretty set on Esme for out next daughter's middle name, but we may save it and use it as a first name because we love it s much. Lol, will go well with my best friend's Sophie Renee.
Ralph can be pronounced Rafe-- think Ralph Finnes.
Lol, I must've seen Colin in a different post! Or I really am going crazy.
We want to keep our names secret too. I've gotten over feeling 'usurped' over certain names (infertility's a bitch), but I no longer share our favorites with friends and family. I won't even share the name I want t pair with Esme online since I've never seen it used here. I figure if I don't share, no one can steal and I have no real room to feel butt-hurt when someone I know likes the same name as me. Now the only problem will be keeping names secret until birth. :)
It's okay! I worried I'd offended you with my opinion on Hermione when I saw all that text though, lol.

Date: 2012-01-19 10:56 am (UTC)Thanks! I loved it too. Makes me sad I don't really get to use it much (lol, of course, that's not what really what mostly makes me sad there). Her name was Brenna Rose (two name first name). Rose was going to be her middle name, but I decided I wanted her to have three names at the last minute. Her middle name is after my cat. ;)
Esme is the middle name we love. We love it enough that it might become a first name instead. We're keeping the first name secret from everybody, even the internets. Gemma is still on the list, but not near the top so we probably won't use it.
Boys... I'm all over the place. Brenna, had she been a boy, would have been David Christopher. We're not really to keen on either of those anymore, though. My husband is an Albert Edward III. I hate the name Albert (which he doesn't go by), but Edward (my husband goes by Ted, a nickname for Edward) has grown on me. I also love Liam, but it's so overdone in the last 8 years or so. Jeremiah is high on the list, in memory of my brother Jeremy. So... Jeremiah is a definitely, either for a first or middle name (I want first, husband isn't sure and I'd want to clear it with my mother first), probably Edward, maybe Liam. I like Liam Edward, Edward Jeremiah, and Jeremiah Edward.
Meant to say, Hollis is a guilty pleasure of mine, but I couldn't use it after watching Big Love (plus a girl goes by it in a series I read... same series I saw Gemma in, lol)!

Date: 2012-01-19 07:32 pm (UTC)I love Esme. I also loved Bella, but since Twilight hit I tried to stay away from it being she was the main character. I left Jasper alone, because I loved it and he's not as CRAZY popular as Bella, Jacob, and Edward. Lol! Esme too! That's right. Still I'd use it, it's gorgeous as a first or a middle name. I won't try to pry the secret from you. ;) I understand.
Actually Ralph Fiennes is where I got Rafe from. But he has to correct people about the pronunciation, which is what lead me to the straight spelling of Rafe. And I was definitely not offended that you don't like Hermione. It's not exactly a popular choice (even after Harry Potter) but we just loved it. All the girl's names have meaning with their combined names. Gemma Hermione is "Precious jewel from the earth" Elsa Fleur is "Noble flower" and Sofia Teddye translates best as "Wisdom is a gift from God". Very neat. It also helped determine what middle name to go with :)

Date: 2012-01-20 12:57 am (UTC)It's not that I don't like Hermione in itself. It's that I'd never heard of it before HP, I'm not a fan, and I just assume everyone that uses it is OMGHARRYPOTTER!
*sigh* Love Ralph Finnes. That's where I got it too. Not sure I would want to use the name of someone I drool over though, lol.

Date: 2012-01-20 04:06 am (UTC)Don't worry, I happen to think that Stephanie Meyers has great taste in names. Carlisle?? How awesome is that, come on!
Ralph Fiennes is great, I love his acting, but I don't drool over him. Especially after Voldemort. *shudder* That mental image is a mood killer lol.

Date: 2012-01-20 04:18 am (UTC)I don't usually get names from movies either, but my *supe secret* name is actually a name I heard in a movie! In my defense, it's a fictional biography of a real person. :)

Date: 2012-01-19 12:07 pm (UTC)For boys I pick Rafe Hollis. Jasper Grayson comes in second.

Date: 2012-01-19 07:22 pm (UTC)I do love Teddye, it beat out several other well loved middle names I thought I would definitely use, but didn't. Fleur and Teddye came in to steal the spots I thought Suntine and Laramie would take. Laramie is a boys name but I didn't care, because it meant 'tears of love' in french, which I thought was so awesome.
I would be happy with any name for boy or girl so it's all just a matter of what baby looks like! :)
