Give the kid a Chanse

A few weeks ago I saw my friend talking about her cousin's son and she spelled the name Chanse. I assumed typo and ignored it. Now I've discovered that the poor boy's name actually is Chanse pronounced like Chance.

Personally I'm not a huge fan. The name Chance is okay but kind of sounds like the name for your puppy. Spelling it like that though. That kid is going to have a fun life. Anyone else have any thoughts?

I am not a big fan of the name to begin with, but to each their own. As for the spelling, I think it's different but not in a bad way. It's kind of cute, in its own way. :)

Don't mind the name. I don't like the spelling of "Chanse" though. It does look like a typo.

I don't like Chance as a person name as it is, but why do people have to mess with spellings?

That is the french spelling so it looks weird to me.
I know a girl who named her second child Chace instead of Chase.

That's how Chace Crawford from Gossip Girl spells it. But yeah, I prefer Chase, too.

Yeah, I agree that it sounds like a pet's name (maybe I'm just thinking of Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey?) or maybe a middle name. It's cute, but it might not age well. Then again, I like the name Chase, so there you go.

About the spelling: that "s" is extremely distracting. I don't get why it needed an alternate spelling.

My opinions on the actual name notwithstanding, the spelling Chanse makes me want to pronounce it "Chan-see." I think they should have just gone with Chance, IMHO.
