I'd just switch the names. Emerson Garrett. I think it sounds great in that order too.

oh, i LOVE the name Emerson. I'd probably consider using it, if our last name didn't end with -son.

GEEK was the first thing I thought of, but GECKO was the second. I think you could get around it. if that's the only thing holding you back from a name you both agree on, i wouldn't worry about it. my initials were skm and i always said it spelt "scum." but it was a stretch, just like geek would be.

Actually, GEK would be a cute nickname when he's older.

As long as initials aren't something like, 'F.U.K.', I think you're okay. :P

the title just looks like initials to me, not a word, so I think you're safe. I reallt like it, btw. :D

Look fine to me. I think it's cute. And usually the kids that are smart enough to pick up on the initials aren't the ones that do the teasing. :)

I'm really picky about initials and I think that one would be okay...just don't add something like Edward as another middle name :)

And to the person above me - smart kids can be mean too.

If I met a boy whose initials were GEK, I might be inclined to call him "Gecko" as a friendly nickname; "Geek" never crossed my mind.

I think it's a bad idea. Kids are smarter than you think and naming kids can be a dangerous game, because making-fun is sure to ensue. You could switch the names, and still let him be called by his middle name. My man and I are trying for a son very soon, and his name is going to be Ernest Liam, but we're going to call him Liam. Ernest is a family name, and he'll be the fifth Ernest Carmichael. Emerson Garrett is a great idea, just let him be called Garrett. Tons of people go by their middle names. My little brother does.

I don't think it's a problem. And I love the name! I agree with everyone above me, and I don't really get why initials are always such a big deal anyway. Plenty of people have middle names beginning with vowels that make their initials look like a word, but like others said, as long as its not something bad, I think it's fine.

I really don't think it's a big deal. Kids would have to be trying PRETTY damn hard to find something to make fun of him about if they resorted to using that. And if you say it, it sounds nothing like geek. If they're that desperate to find something to make fun of about him, they'll probably find something better anyway. So I wouldn't worry about it.

And how many people in school did you know their middle names, anyway? It's not something that comes up a heck of a lot. Most kids aren't smart enough to even think of his intials anyway upon hearing Garrett Emerson K_____, let alone make them a word and use it as something to make fun of him for.

I really think Garrett makes a much better first name and Emerson makes a better middle name. I might be the only one, but if I was a boy I might be a bit embarrassed about the name Emerson, I'm not sure why... maybe it sounds like Emily, and a posh sort of last name. Reminds me of having a name like Preston, only not as bad. Middle names are kind of meant to be embarrassing, so if I were to pick that name for myself (if i were a boy) I'd MUCH rather Garrett Emerson that Emerson Garrett, even if you went by the middle name.

About the initials... I can't see how anyone is going to pick up on it, and even if they did, it's not something that would traumatise him for life. In school people hardly ever know each other's middle names, and even if they did, they'd kind of forget about it. The only kid with bad initials I knew in school, had the initials B.I.N. (bin is what we say here instead of 'trash can').. and people had a laugh about it for a little while and then got over it. And he was even a kid who got bullied a lot, and even then, his initials did not become permanent ammo for teasing.

Kids will always tease for something. It's like you could have called your kid Timothy and now everyone will call him TIMMEHH because of southpark - maybe there's going to be another TV character called Garrett that makes people tease, and you could have never guessed. The best thing to do is to make sure your kid is loved and confident in himself so he can stand any teasing

(Sorry for the novel)

GEK just made me think of geckos. If he likes lizards, it'd be an awesome nickname!

People don't make fun of initials, how often would peers know a person's middle name(s) anyway?

I like it. Keep it!

Or if you're really worried you could always add a third name. Like Richard.
...Kidding. But yeah.
