Yesterday, I was at the grocery store, and I saw that the cashier's name was Sejla (with a "v" symbol above the S). I complimented her on her name and she said it was pronounced "Shayla". WDYT?
It's not that it's impossible to pronounce, it's just that Shayla and Kaylee/Kaleigh sound like the names of toddlers. They're pretty to look at, but the sound will never age well, which is why I wouldn't use them.
I actually really like the name Shayla but spelled that way because I'd feel guilty giving my child a name no one would ever spell correctly. The first I ever heard of Shayla was a girl I knew from residence in college so I don't see it not aging well. That was spelled Chayla. And Kaylee makes me think of Kaylee (short for Kaywinnit Lee) from Firefly so I see that one as a grown-up name as well even is she is a childish character.
