Met a girl at the nail salon today whose name was Brindy.  I thought for a second that she had said Brandy, but I noticed that she had her name embroidered on her purse.  I ended up asking her if it was short for something, but she said no, her parents wanted to name her something "like Brandy but not."

WDYT?

Bleh. I don't understand why parents do that sort of thing to their kids.

I don't mind the sound of it. In fact my name is Lindsay and my daughter's name is Bridget and she often goes by Bridie (which I know a lot of people don't like but we think it is cute) and it is a bit reminiscent of both. But it sounds a bit too nick-name-y to me.

Only time I've ever heard the name Brindy is in the "alternate timeline" episode of Friends where Phoebe's new assistant was named Brindy and she renamed her Joan.

That's probably where they got it from... lying about being original, for shame! ;)

I'm gonna name my daughter Tequayla. Like Tequila, but not.

My friend's sister's name is Brinda. Never understood why it wasn't Brenda...

Weird. Never heard of Brindy before. Brandy's bad enough.

In Aus, as you've probably guessed if you know of Steve Irwin, Bindi is quite a common name in some areas.

Made me think of Bindi too but I automatically went to the forehead decoration.
