A girl I went to high school with had a baby girl recently. They named her Anika Nora. Pronounced Ann-ih-kuh. I've never heard the name before but I think I like it.

Also saw a friend of a friend named Xain (Zane).

I've heard Annika/Anika quite a bit lately. I think it's lovely. My friend has a daughter named Annika Caroline.

I've heard Annika/Anika quite a bit lately.

No freaking kidding. Although to be fair, its actually dropped 130 places between the year I named my daughter Annika Rose (2007) and the most recent available on SSI (2010).

It was on the freakonomics 'popular names in 2015' list around that time, so possibly why there was a spike then a drop.

I've heard of Annika a lot, including the golf player Annika Sorenstam. I like it. The only issue I have is that it's close to Anikin Skywalker (doubt I spelled that right).

I don't like Zane much because of the word Zainey. I really dislike the spelling Xain, it looks like an analgesic.

I have an Annika, but we pronounce it Ah-nick-ah (Anni (ah-nee) for short). Drives me batty when people say "Anne-ik-ah". Gah!

Annika is the name of my friend's daughter ^ so ofc, I dig it.

OMFG though I dig the spelling on Xain.

I know an Annika (on-uh-kuh), and I know an Anneika (uh-knee-kuh). I think it's a lovely name.

Annika is the name of a character in the series of Pippi Longstocking books. They were written by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren. They were my favorite books when I was growing up. So, I love the name Anika.

That's how I pronounce my name, I much prefer it to the 'ann-ee-kuh' pronunciation.

I've heard it around quite a bit in recent years... I'm not a fan. =/
I don't like that spelling of Zane.

I'm half Swedish and it's a common name there so I know quite a few people called Annika. It's not something you'd call your kid there now though. Completely wrong generation and not in an Edith/Esther/Elsa way. Annika Sorenstam is a pretty good example, people her age would be called that, but not younger girls. Couldn't imagine it on a child. Well apart from the young girl in the Pippi Longstocking books/films of course. ;)
