Baby due in just over 3 weeks, In need of a middle name!
Orla _____ Magee

Sibling to -

Finnian Louis Magee

Louis is my grandfather's name, (Pronouced Loo-ee, rather than Loo-iss)

My grandmother's name is Laura, my mother's is Vanessa and I can't find a way to make either of them fit with our chosen first name (at least not that the other half will agree with!) so am looking for other suggestions.

I like Orla Vanessa, but I can see the dilemma... however, my friend Laura is nicknamed Orla because her nephew couldn't say her name properly. Maybe you could convince people Orla is a variant of Laura? :P

What about Larissa? I think that name is beautiful and it kind of combines Laura and Vanessa.

I like Orla a lot, too. I live in America and my phone/computer would change it to Oral every minute so I can't use it :(

I've never heard of Finnian. Does everyone try to call him Finnigan? Finnian Louis sounds good.

Both Irish names, Orla is sometimes spelled Orlaith but pronounced the same

(Not the OP, but) I love Larissa- Orla Larissa sounds great and wow, I never would have thought to combine the two names (Laura and Vanessa) that way, but I think it works!

Oh, that's a pity that it's not used much. I only know 2 here so it's unique but recognizeable. People in your daughter's age group wouldn't know about Clarissa (and probably men wouldn't either, haha) but I can understand your pov.

Maybe since Orla is more popular in the UK, it will be in the word database and won't get autocorrected? I hope.

I was just coming here to say this! I really like the name Larissa, and I think it does sound like it combines both names.

With Orla I would go with a one syllable name which starts with a consonant, like Beth, Kate etc

Orla Valetta is a nice combination of Laura and Vanessa

Orla June
Orla Mae
Orla Kate
Orla Bea

Sidenote: Orla is a very pretty name but my typing fingers automatically typed "Oral" every time I tried to type "Orla". Something to consider she may be called Oral as a teasing nickname.

Similar to Mae, I think Orla Maeve would be great, and Irish. :-)

Actually, I thought of combining Laura and Vanessa into "Laressa", but that's just me, I guess. Orla Laressa has a nice ring to it.

And I really like Finnian. I have every intention of naming a future son Phineas, so I may be biased... ;-)

I like Orla Rose or Orla May.

Something simple, pretty and which flows easily.

I agree with some above posters, a one syllable name would sound very pretty with Orla.

Considering Vanessa was created as an allusion to someone named Esther Vanhomrigh, I'm wondering what you guys think of the name Esther.

Viola? I love it, might be a bit too song sounding though, although not dissimilar to Louis. I usually pronounce it Veeola but either work well. What about names with the same meaning to either Laura or Vanessa? I love your kiddos names. : )

Orla Diane Magee
Orla Charlotte Magee
Orla Rose Magee
Orla Faith Magee
Orla Claire Magee
Orla June Magee
Orla Vivian Magee

Tried to stay away from names ending in "ah" and "ee" sounds so they don't clash with the other two names. If Vanessa doesn't work, you could try another "V" name.
