My husbands friend just found out she's pregnant with a girl. The chosen name? Shy Ann Mae Lastname. They aren't sure if they will spell it Shy Ann or Shyann yet. :/

Edit
Just saw she has two other daughters. Jayli and Amelia

Er, couldn't they just go with Cheyenne? It's an Indian tribe name and a city in Wyoming, so the phonetic spelling really isn't necessary. I'm just not big on the name May/Mae. Sorry I'm such a downer...

My parents chose to spell my second name as, "Shianne". They now regret not going with the traditional and proper spelling.

This. I wouldn't really love it anyway, but at least it doesn't make them look illiterate if it's spelled correctly.

You are obligated as a decent human being to convince them to change the spelling. OBLIGATED!

Oh gosh! I don't have a problem with Cheyenne but Shy Ann is awful! Especially if she ends up being shy. But even if she doesn't, everyone is going to be like, "you don't seem that shy to me, Ann! HA HA HA!"

Jayli = Jelly.

Amelia is good.

Amelia is pretty but Jayli and Shy Ann....:\

Maybe its just me, but I really feel like I couldn't finalise a name until the baby was born. I was almost Claire Louise but as my birth drew closer my mum found a few more names she liked and then she saw me and decided I was Louisa.

I was Catherine for a week. Mum had decided I was a Cassie, not a Cathy or a Cate.

Then my old man decided I must be named after his favourite (dead) cousin.

I wish mum had got her way!

Holy buckets.

If they're going to use the name, surely they could just go with Cheyenne.

Really not liking Shy Ann at all. In that case, it almost seems like "shy" is an adjective of the name Ann. And I totally do not understand how Shy Ann, Shianne, Shyann, or any other version of that pronunciation seems to be another version for Cheyenne. Shy Ann and Cheyenne aren't even pronounced the same, let alone substituting one for the other.
