I'm watching Toddlers & Tiaras. One of the mom's names is Ca'Trina. I don't know which I'm more offended by-- the spelling of Ca'Trina's name or her belief that 'God' gives a crap about beauty pageants. Okay and now the next mom is saying her daughter isn't pretty enough with brown eyes and blond hair (love this combo!). Why do I even watch this show? Sorry, digressing from names, lol. Ew, just saw that Ca'Trina's daughter is named Saryniti. She's her stepmother, so these names occurred independently of each other! Blech. :P

On a much less disgusting note, my SIL is due with daughter #2 in March and they're pretty set on 'Claire Emmaline'. I think she's pronouncing Emmaline wrong, but I like the name. Claire joins big sister Alice Mathilde. WDYT? Her second cousins are Eleanor, Sylvia, and Matilda. I definitely see a trend there. Then there's second cousins on the other side of the family, Mason and Sarah. And of course my own daughter Brenna Rose, though her name isn't really heard much since she's deceased.

*edit*-- LOL, didn't notice the previous post!

Brenna Rose is such a pretty name. I'm sorry you lost her. There are a couple of Roses in my family so I think if I ever have any girls Rose will be in their name somewhere :) As well as Grace who was my father's mother.

OMG Saryniti? I'm assuming you say that 'serenity'...? :| URGH.

Oh I see now. I had no idea what 'Saryniti' could possibly be.

Me either! I was about to ask in a comment of my own! Could not sound it out to anything conceivable!

I think Esme is a pretty name, and could go well with many first names! :)

I, also, am sorry to hear that you lost your daughter. I've lost a son myself. *hugs*

Love Brenna Rose! My good friend has a Brenna Caroline. How is your sister pronouncing Emmaline? I would say Emma-line, like the Ben Folds song, but when I brought it up to my sister as a possible girls name, she thought it was Emma-leen.

T&T is always good for horrific names.

I think both pronunciations are correct :).

Clare and Emmeline are 2 of my favorite names, although, I'm not wild about the Emmaline spelling--but Claire seems fine to me. :-)

I pronounce it like Emma-leen. My great great aunt was Emmeline pronounced like Emma-line though.

How is she pronouncing Emmaline? I would say it like Emma-Lynn.

Do ya'll live in the US? 'leen' would be the French pronunciation of 'line'.

And now that I think of it, it just depends on the name, I guess to how I pronounce it. For example, with Caroline, I would always says "line". And for Carolyn, I would always say "lyn". I think names like Evangeline and Madeline could go either way though.

I thought "Emma-leen" but I agree, it's very pretty either way!

Brenna Rose is such a pretty combo! Sorry about your daughter :(

Claire Emmaline is really pretty, too, but I would spell it like 'Emmeline'. Either way, very nice.

Ca'Trina and Saryniti .. just .. no words. Don't even get me started on Toddlers and Tiaras! That show disgusts me, and not just because of the horrific names! What kind of mom says that their daughter is not pretty? D: I will admit it's a guilty pleasure to watch, moreso for the trainwreck mothers than of any real enjoyment out of it. I really feel so bad for the kids of crazy pageant parents. If the kid wants to do the pageant and is old enough to understand that they might not win every time? Go for it! But I feel terribly for those kids who are so obviously being pushed into it by their overbearing parents.

Er, sorry about that! /rant

Last night was one of the rare occasions I watched that show, and made my sister change it after 5 minutes because it makes me angry. When they showed the name Saryniti, I couldn't even pronounce it! I wanted to say sorry-neety.
