I've loved the name Genevieve (with the nickname Gen) since I watched Trading Spaces. Today on LJ, I came across the name Jenevive. I don't know what to think. What do you think?

I don't particularly care for it, for me, but my friend's daughter is named that. My friend's name is Jennifer, so they call Genevieve "Gigi".

It looks ridiculously misspelled, and as my daughter's middle name, I find it highly offensive to the eyes because of that!

I definitely prefer the regular spelling. It looks really weird/bad with a "J"... X(

I live with a Genevieve so that spelling looks all kinds of wrong to me. Y'know what it looks like? How do I describe it... like someone liked the name but didn't know it was french so they spelled it "in english". Does that make sense?

And I'm not sure why, but I read the end part as "viv" and not "veev".

That does make sense. It's kind of funny, but I know a Genna (pronounced Jenna) and people have a hard time with her name, and yet with Genevieve no one seems to notice the G. I just think it's interesting how it depends on the name how easily we pronounce certain letters certain ways.

You know, when I first saw the name it didn't dawn on me it was missing an "e" until I typed the two side-by-side.
