Some Recent Names
Jan. 18th, 2012 11:10 pmHere are a few baby/child names that I have come across recently in my social circles (sibsets grouped together, middle names where I know them):
Georgia Moon
Bentley Rouge (f)
Scout (f)
Sebastian (m)
Sailor Alice (f)
Bixby Kirk
Tanner
Hawkins Ridge
Kirra Marie
Mckinnley
MacKenzie Marie
I honestly think the only names I like here are Georgia and Alice. WDYT?

Date: 2011-12-20 08:08 am (UTC)Bentley is terrible on a boy or a girl.
Scout (I know, I know, To Kill a Mockingbird!) but even then, it was just a nickname. Would sound better on a boy, imo, and only as a nn.
Sebastian I actually like, but I would never use because all I can think of when I first hear it is The Little Mermaid.
Sailor is kind of ridiculous, but Alice is nice. Perhaps she will go by that.
Bixby sounds like somebody's pet turtle. Kirk = meh.
Tanner is not so bad, but still nms.
Hawkins Ridge? Is this a child or a geographical location?
Kirra isn't awful, but I prefer Kiera. Unless of course they're pronouncing it "Kyra" which is just not cool. Marie = meh.
Mckinnley and MacKenzie are both trendy and annoying to me. I went to school with a male Mackenzie and the only name he went by (Mac) grew on me quite a bit.

Date: 2011-12-20 07:48 pm (UTC)I hate that trend too! I especially dislike the "Mac" beginning, because I want to read it as it's spelled- Mac-Kenzie

Date: 2011-12-21 02:13 am (UTC)Hawkins reminds me of the main character in Carnivale... though it was his last name. I don't mind it. The rest are okay.

Date: 2011-12-21 03:08 am (UTC)I also love the name Keira for a girl, it's on my current list of girl names I *might* use if I have another girl.
I used Mackenzie as a middle name for my eldest son, but only because I thought the scottish name flowed well with the Irish first name I gave him. I never noticed it being so popular then, but both Aidan and Mackenzie got really popular afterwards!!
I don't really prefer any of the other names at all.
