This week, I was all gung-ho about how much I loved the names Luisa and Liesl and how would I ever choose. (Honestly, I would probably never name my children either name, but I've been in a very strange naming mood all week.) Suddenly, I hit on the solution... merge the names together! Luisl. It took me 3 days to realize it sounded like I was saying weasel (or rather, l'weasel).

Also in the birth announcements today: Will Grayson, brother of Jack and Karen. I guess they were Will and Grace fans.

My name is Louisa and I've been called Weasel, both affectionately and not so much my entire life so that made me chuckle.

I love the name Liesel but that reminds me so much [and yet more-so than my own name] of The Sound of Music :p

I like it because when I was younger, I watched A Little Princess way too many times, and the main character was played by Liesel Matthews... so as a 10 year old I was obsessed.

I too got a giggle out of L'Weasel. As a little girl I was absolutely sure I would name my daughter Juniper from "The Juniper Game". I still love that book, but I didn't exactly love the idea of a nickname of Junie so that put the kibosh on things. Potential nicknames are the #1 killer of my name ideas lol.

I have never seen the name Liesel before (I haven't seen the Sound of Music) so I thought it was really neat!

Even though I live in Montreal, where we have a strong Jewish population, I have never heard it before. I have really grown to love Hebrew names but would feel weird using them, since I am not Jewish in any way.

I think it's just Meh-LA-nee-ah... It's Donald Trump's wife's name as well so I think that's where I got the pronunciation from. It apparently can also be pronounced Meh-la-NEE-ah
