[identity profile] purplefog.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
When I post Birth Announcements, a lot of people ask about the pronunciation of various Welsh names. I had a bit of a scout around and wondered if this website would be helpful at all? You can hear audio clips of the names being said.

However, I'm not sure if the BBC website is region-blocked. I know video parts of the site are accessible to UK users only :/

i know lol my mother is welsh. We just don't say it that way because we're in Philadelphia and it's already a very challenging name to pronounce for most people.

This is fantastic :D! Thanks for sharing! I love Rhiannon...though I do pronounce it the Anglicized way. Both pronunciations are nice, and they're not that far apart :).

This is great! I could watch it in Canada. I ran into a couple of broken links when clicking "listen" but mostly it worked.

My friend's name is Siân, pronounced "Shawn". Her dad is Welsh.
