(I never would; it's a joke name from fandom, but I have it in my layout, and I couldn't help but wonder what reaction it would get from people in this community.

I've heard worse. The first thing I think of when I hear Belvidere is Belvedere College (not quite the same, but very close) and thus James Joyce, and then the fact that his nickname would be "Bell." On the nickname is really a bad thing, and even that isn't guaranteed to come up. I'm not in any way recommending it, of course. I've just heard worse.
